They can be painted when you recieve them if you wish! Keep in mind this is just one finish! I plan to offer them in this finish and also plastic colors ranging from black to yellow and green! Basically the entire color selection for shapeways "strong and flexible" plastic.
What about silver? Or light gray? Will the markings light up?

Unfortunately they do not offer grey as an option. This finish I am showing is actually a silver metallic. The lighting doesn't help show that off. I will get better pictures tomorrow but for now this is what the finish looks like in good lighting!

Yes the text on the toggle will light up! The hazard symbol will not though.

Black would do the justice
Will certainly be an option during the ordering process! As a matter of fact the next prototype I order I plan on getting black.

Installation in my car! I am almost certain I will have to change a few dimensions so during the install I am going to take note of any changes I make. The plan is to then leave this toggle installed for "durability" testing. Whatever dimensions that need to be changed I will do on my CAD model and then re-upload to shapeways. Once there I'll order one more prototype (in black this time) to make sure the changes work. Once varifed that it works I'll order all three toggles and install in my car documenting the process for an install manual. After this I'll upload all models and material to shapeways and open up sales! I am hoping this will all be done by late August.

Same thing that I am thinking. I was hoping that the metallic plastic had a bit more silver finish instead of a grey look. We shall see when I order the black prototype which one I like better!

Rendering of the final toggle design. Let me know what you think about the text... I need something there for the backlight function and didn't just want to redo the symbol. The D has supports for the center because the text is a cutout of the part. This will allow the use of a non transparent material further simplifying the manufacturing process.
I've got a gt350 ordered, so no real need for me. BUT DAMN! That is good looking stuff. Hope you sell a million of them!
