Mustang Sales Down 41%...

Mustang sales are still way better than GTI sales. People and auto reviewers all rave that the GTI is the perfect daily driver.. bla bla bla. But here in the USA they are lucky to sell 1500 a month. Nobody is buying them..

There are some coastal think-tank brainiacs who claim that within the next decade ICE vehicles will vanish almost entirely as unsustainable and that the entire personal transportation market will be consumed by autonomous people pods used only as a service.

Screw those guys and everyone who thinks that way. The only reason I care about the declining sales of anything is how it impacts my access to the cars I love in the future. Maybe it's a small blessing that I'm on the back end of my driving years and it will be for "you kids today" to deal with the sad state of auto enthusiasm.

By that time, I plan to have secured a Miata, a GT350, and '69 Mach 1 along with some fuel in my compound out in the boonies so that I can periodically emerge to terrorize the locals in their people pods.

Fuel isn't getting cheaper. Porsche have a strategy to have half their production electric by 2025.

Let that sink in. Porsche Will Be 50% Electric By 2025.

Trump won't last much longer....the EPA will rise again. We are experiencing the final muscle car spurt. Dodge Hellcat, Dodge Demon, GT 500, ZR1......

I've got two boys in their 20's. One sold his $2000 car and rides the train, the other thrives on YouTube JDM videos and drives a Honda. Most young guys grew up playing GT3, not helping dad in the garage.

Enjoy your Mustangs.....change is coming.

Pretty easy stuff but people are not smart enough to look at the data. Please take a few minutes and look at the graphs. If anything the challenger sales have increased over time. The Camaro is trending down of course but the Mustang is still at the expected amount. The huge decreases are from the decrease in Mustang sales from 2015 to 2016 and from 2016 to 2017. Those sales numbers were never going to be sustainable and have gone back to the normal pre-2015 amounts. This highlights why abusing statistics is extremely unethical and needs to be exposed including the bad stats on this fourm. Creating fear and hysteria is easy but it takes a tiny bit of critical thinking to see what is actually going on.

That being said no matter what it is or rather or not you agree with something at least do a bit of research on your own. Taking these numbers at face value would suggest the segment is toast but in essence it is selling roughly the same amount as it has since 2009.

Internal combustion engine cars are being legislated away country by country. Maybe 20 years max. By then no one will care. When EV really kicks off IC sales will drop like a rock and IC muscle cars will be history quite literally. That 1.9 second 0-60 of the Tesla Roadster is inaccurate as the car is faster than that. In fact the cars at Tesla are always faster than the published figures.

The electric Mustang will truly “pin you to your seat” and that will spell the death of the V8 almost immediately. A mid-engine design change for the Corvette makes more sense if you get rid of the front mounted engine.

Just saying changes are a coming...

Well I have to say I think a lot of you are overreacting and I don't mean that in a snarky internet sort of way.

News articles like this feed off of negativity and anger. Also the mentions of Trump are laughable and further lead me to believe it's a case of overreacting and hysteria.

Electric cars are being pushed right now but no one is really buying them yet. Tesla is a near bankrupt company that has never turned a profit. I think maybe in 50 years the ice will fade away but not 10-20. I would also like to point out an electric vehicle makes a lot of sense in some places of the country.

But most Americans and when I say most I mean 95% are buying ice engines. Also I'm a 24 year old millennial who lives in San Francisco and I drive a loud ass v8 with Corsa xpipe.

So you are okay with abusive stats? Okay. These articles are click bait and are made to make money. It also allows some of the deranged people to push this stuff as fact. In an era where people are creating actual fake news and living in bubbles of course people will speak out about it. I posted actual data on the subject which you won’t read.

The OP is a clear troll and has been trolling for a little bit now fyi not just this thread either.

Limited production is the big cause of lower high performance sedan sales. How can people buy the high performance sedan when production is limited to low volume dealer allocations ?

isnt the production of batteries harmful to the environment. i have read articles that say battery production including mining and manufacturing the batteries is actually more harmful than modern ICE cars. just saying. im gonna laugh when the world is in a worse place when all ICE cars are replaced by electric battery driven vehicles.

Or just maybe the sales are down because consumers don't want the '18+ because of the tech issues with the car. Here in the UK, my local dealer has two on display, one black one orange and both are still on display. They've been there for a good three months.

You are totally correct but nobody wants to hear the truth there are to many people making very large amounts of money on lithium batteries. These people are feeding lies to all the gullible masses that electric cars are environmentally safe when they cause worse pollution making them not to mention that only 1% of lithium batteries are recycled. But watch telling people this because there going to call you a alarmist, crazy, stupid and lot of other things. But when the big ecological disaster hits bigger than Love Cannel you can say I told you so.

What the author should be writing about is the near death of subscription based news, raising questions everywhere about whether a nostalgic, newspaper based culture that dates to the 1600's will survive at all.
