I've been looking to get a 2015 or newer Mustang GT for about 3 months now. I was wondering what you guys thought was the best year to get for reliability? The 2018 and newer body style is tempting since they don't cost that much more but everyone acts like they aren't reliable. Also, would a supercharged one be relaible? How long would the car last if it had a supercharger? I don't really know much about these cars so any insight is much appreciated.

If reliability and repairs are a real concern, look for a CPO so you get an extended warranty, and stay away from FI... for now.

1967 was a good year.

I've always stuck to stay away from the first year a new model comes out. So yes many with 2018s have issues, but many also do not. What the real numbers are who knows.

Sounds like you’re going to buy used so I’ll say this who cares about the reliability. You have a warranty for a reason. If you’re looking for a used car and just want to keep it stock get a ford CPO car they come with 7 year/100k powertrain warranty. You can also extended bumper to bumper to like 75000 miles. An 18 is plenty fast and can be found for mid 30s fully loaded under 10000 miles and is plenty fast.

If you want supercharged I would go 15-17 not that’s there’s anything wrong with an 18+ since you can have the same issues in a 15-17 but it would probably be cheaper at the end of the day.

That question I hope you know will be answered with nothing but personal opinions. To say from 2011-19 there is a drastic variance in reliability (one year over another) would only be speculation. Are you talking about stock mustangs, mild bolt on, full bolt on, or/or FI stangs?? Lots of variables including driver maintenance, intended use, etc etc.... Lol.

All of them.

If you want to get technical, a mid 2016-2017 model year would be the “best” as it’s post refresh. I’m getting the 2020 will have less kinks than the 18-19’s.

That being said, find a car you like and go for it. Year wouldn’t matter to me. Condition, mileage and if there’s a warranty involved would.

I have a 16 that has been a basket of shit since I bought it bran new if that helps. Whatever you get make sure it has a good long warranty and don't touch it.

My 15 has been rock solid....had a brake squeal fixed under warranty and a door latch recall. Also had the dreaded galvanic corrosion on the hood and got a new hood. All free repairs.

I'd vote for a 2016 to 2017. I always like to buy a car after the first year production run, so they can work out any major issues.
The 2016 also has the integrated hood vent turn signals. They are kind of gimmicky, but they're the only year to have them stock. 16+ also gets sync 3 over the My Ford system if you get a premium model.

I appreciate all the input, keep it coming. I'll be keeping it stock and I'm not one to rely on warranty since I take very good care of my things. How much do you guys think a 2019 pp1 GT will set me back? There's a lot that I see for sale but the price varies so much. I've been looking at cars with like 20k miles.
