Drove home from work tonight, 6 inches of snow, clear sky and black ice developing, had a wee twitch at 15mph on a roundabout. Continued the 7 miles to home at 35 - 40 gentle acceleration, no issues at all, apart from the prat sitting 15 feet behind me all the way. Was brought up driving rear wheel drive cars and massive snowdrifts..remember the late early 80's well for bad winters. All boils down to taking your time. light right foot and light braking well early, even tho I was doing 15 mph coming to my turn off and hit black ice and over shot 10 feet. Apparently there were 4 crashes at my turn off earlier, peeps just not taking stopping distance into the equation on snow. Looking at the glistening surfaces on my driveway at the moment, Work in the morning will be an interesting drive.

Time for you UK people to look into rear subframe lockouts.
And look at some " cars and coffee" mustang exits to see what too much throttle can do.

That has gotten so bad that the damn thing has it's own site of memes.. Mustangs are out to get you! :p

People ask me why I haven't used my Mustang yet... and there's your answer. I don't like ditches.
Oddly, my Monaro runs P-Zeros and with 440hp it's just fine and dandy in all weather I've used it (got caught in some biblical weather more than once at Santa Pod). I think it's part tyre, part car in this case. The Mustang, whilst comfy, seems to "wander" around the road of it's own accord. I think some describe it as "floaty". If I keep mine longer term, the suspension is going, and a lockout kit is going on - as well as wheels/tyres and whatever else is needed to instil a little more road confidence. It shouldn't be necessary.

I'll stick to my Viva for now. It's harmless, warm (heated steering wheel people.. it's the future) and tiny. I regret buying it :p

Be safe out there guys and gals.

Everybody needs to look into a cheap Clio run about :).

Hoping everyone stays safe.

Keep these crashes up and Mustang drivers will soon have a similar reputation to BMW drivers!

Thank god mine has a set of Nokian winter boots, remarkably planted on the slippy roads. Rather spend ÂŁ700 notes on tyres, than a crappy Clio!

Well said! Driving a high powered rear wheel drive car in summer tyres in these conditions is asking for trouble - even if you have got it in snow/wet/blizzard/hurricane nanny mode.

:frusty: thought I'd get away from it when sold the Beemer! Hilarious video though, especially how they just drive away as though nothing has happened even though part of their car is left behind! I bet that wouldn't have happened if they had it in snow/wet mode?!! ;)

Maybe Ford and BMW need to introduce driver training programmes

The "he's too old, he's too old, he can't handle that" about the second guy always makes me laugh. The beauty of the mustang is that you never know which side of the road it's going to crash into.

I left the SMG in auto which killed the fun initially as it up-changed to 2nd. Also found a country road on the way to work, abandoned and slushed, so I had great enjoyment drifting from side to side on my way up the hill at some speed. Gotta love winter, though I did not love it first thing, could not get out my street this morning due to the thick snow.
