So, I took delivery of my brand spanking shiny new 5.0 V8 pure sexy beast of muscle last Friday personally delivered by super dealer j-rowe14 and I am officially in love!
I wouldn't consider myself an all out car nut but have always admired the Mustang and it's sheer presence on the American open road. Having driven the usual basic hire care issue many times whilst in the US and previously toyed with the idea of importing something a bit more special into the UK, I was super excited at the prospect of owning my very own 5.0 version in the most amazing colour of all... Competition Orange.... Better still, it was Right Hand Drive!
ÂŁ1000 deposit down back in September and we were all set (apart from the fact I hadn't actually officially cleared it with the wife) but that's a minor issue... She loves it now! :first:
Thanks to someone ahead of me pulling out who had ordered the same spec as me (basically everything) I managed to jump the queue by a few months and here it is... beaming at me through the driveway window as I type, provoking me to get behind the wheel yet again for that absolutely necessary journey to the garden centre for unnecessary plant pots or to the supermarket to get the key ingredient that I have managed to forget for the 8th time this week... yes, it is addictive!
You can't help but smile as you press that start button and hear the engine purr with pleasure. People can't help but turn and stare as they admire such a rarity on the roads. It's a car that you don't have to drive fast, It's a car to just enjoy driving, knowing that you have the power at your feet should you need it (although I will warn you that the back end is very lively in the wet!)
Since taking delivery, I have travelled a very comfortable 650 miles through a combination of motorway and inner-city driving which has equally been a pleasure. I'm averaging 18.9 MPG although fuel consumption doesn't really bother me and I feel like the coolest guy on the road
I love the fact that Competition Orange has been discontinued as it just makes the car even rarer and to my mind it is already a classic that I will never get bored of driving. It is a car that I intend never to sell and can only see the value appreciating.
All in all, I would give this car 6 out of 5 stars. If you have one, I'm sure you love it as much as I do - If you don't have one, get one - and if you have one on order already then I promise that it will be worth the wait!
It's great to meet you all on this forum - I would definitely be up for a Mustang meet either in London, Kent or Surrey and look forward to speaking/seeing you all soon!
Best Regards
Dan
