Kinda the same here.2nd gear shift fork went boom and took out the countershaft. Ford got the dealer the wrong parts twice I believe. Finally they just installed a whole new gearbox.
At 5000ish miles mine ate itself.
Shift forks and synchros. And I hadn’t even really beaten on the car yet. And I was caught up in the timeframe when so many 2018 cars were broken that the lead time for parts or whole transmissions was forever and a day.
Even though I’ve got a 2019 it was built in July 2018. I bought it in August 2018 and the trans died in March 2019.
Because of the wait time I pitched an idea where the dealer took a trans out of one of their lot 2019’s with a 2019 build date (so I knew it had the upgraded shift forks) and put it into mine. That way the donor car, and not mine, could sit there and wait 1-2 months or longer for a new transmission.
Ford approved the swap and I now have that new trans in the car. I also put in the BG fluid not too long after I got it.
It shifts and feels so much better. I could feel an immediate difference from the old one. I will get some notchy shifts from time to time but nothing too alarming.
