Does anyone else have a problem with missed shifts when they are in it. This is probably the pickiest manual I have ever driven. It seems like if I shift at 6k+ it just doesn't like to shift unless I shift very slow. Are there any remedies to this?

Many threads on this. Steeda, MGW, Blowfish Racing have the goods.

Well can only speak for myself. Many, many 7000 rpm speed shifts and haven't missed one yet.

I switched from the Steeda tri ax to the Barton trans mount and love the Barton. I would have occasional lockout's with the tri ax that I think was coming from being body mounted as it only happened at the track with slicks and a good hard pass. Barton seems to have cured that.

If you're running the stock clutch, then that's most of you're problem. It seems that everytime I really got on the car and did WOT shifts over 7K with the stock clutch, I had issues with lockout going into 3rd gear and then my pedal would almost go to the floor and stay there for a couple of minutes. I think part of this issue is with the plastic clutch line as it can expand and cause issues with fluid pressure. I finally dumped all the stock pieces(clutch, flywheel, clutch line, slave cylinder and throw out bearing) and went aftermarket. All the problems are now gone and no more gear lockout even shifting at 7500rpms. If you want to drive the car and enjoy the power, you need to start replacing the stock pieces.

The trans moves under load - that's the majority of the problem. Get a Steeda Transmission mount bushing insert. Cheap and easy to install - that will help. I also installed this:
https://www.energysuspensionparts.com/4.1145

Both cheap, pretty easy to install and will improve shifting. I personally went with a Boomba Short shifter. I shift the car at high RPM's all the time with no lockout issues.

Try an MGW first (probably the most popular short throw shifter brand and it's trans mounted so you won't need to buy anything else). If that doesn't fix the issue, it's the stock clutch.

MGW Race spec is hands down the biggest gain for price on these cars. Its night and day from the stock shifter and will fix all your shifting issues. Hit me up if you have any questions or to get one sent out to you over at Lethalperformance.com

My personal experience is this:
Completely stock, I very rarely (if ever) missed a 1-2 shift.
On the strip, using MT ET bias, missed shifts crept in, locked out. The solution was to shift a little slower just like you’ve found.
Added UPR engine mounts (not to improve shifting) which reduced the torque twist of the engine, no change.
Added a Whiteline insert, no real difference (it was free, you have to try stuff).
Since swapping the clutch out (Mantic), I haven’t missed a single shift, even at 8k or thereabouts, even with the blower.
Shifter is stock with no intention of swapping it out.
A shifter might be nice and it might improve the shifts but from what I’ve seen, a good clutch will fix it for sure.
Reality being, if you’re making enough power, you don’t get to decide whether you need a new clutch or not.

I ordered a stainless braided line, 35lb clutch spring, trans bushing insert, shifter base bushing bracket kit, and jacking rails from Steeda today. Now I need to decide whether to get BG or Motul fluid for the trans. I'm hoping that these items help some. I just bought the clutch spring to try out, and the jacking rails just to make lifting the car easier. The car has a new clutch, but now im nervious that they may have installed a crappy clutch, and there is no way for me to find out what the clutch is.. I do plan on a different shifter in the future. I just bought these items hoping for some improvement for the time being, I know that its just a band aid.

My trans worked fine at first then started locking out. kept getting worse and worse until it finally couldn't shift with out a 2 second wait at anything over 6k. i had the fluid changed, clutch line, clutch spring, MGW nothing helped. clutch line did improve the time a bit. only thing that fixed it for me was a new clutch, had the Mantic installed and now as fast as i want 8k shifts if i wanted to. FFS with the WOT Box all no problem. I had the shift forks replaced in mine and the Mantic installed at the same time, so i guess its possible it was something they did. but it all works now. and i didn't have a problem shifting 2 other friends cars at redline. they was able to beat on their MT82's and still had the same issue as me when they drove my car. i guess its possible i did something to it, but only car in 25 years that ive ever had a issue shifting.

I have a bad feeling I may be in the same boat. Long story short I bought the car used and the second day I had it the clutch went out. They replaced it under warranty, but I have a feeling it may be an oreilly special :( Now that I think about it the issue got worse with the new clutch. I have been eyeing the WOT box, I like the no lift shift ability. Did it seem to make a difference on a bolt on na car?

I think it helped. My last 2 cars have had NLS though and ive been doing it for 6-7 years now so just use to it. it did seem to shift smoother when it was installed. I think because i was playing around with it though is when my 3-4 shift fork went..

I'm getting ready to throw a short throw into my car... I haven't had an issue missing anything with the stock shifter though. I have run her all the way out to 7500 RPMS and slammed gears. I shift fast enough people think I have an auto.
