You don’t want to know
In addition, no offence to the Vette guys, but Vette's including Z's never hold their resale value.
Boy, are you wrong about Corvette values. I don't know where you get your "facts" (maybe it's a left coast thing), but you're going to damage the credibility of your other comments here by going outside your Ford comfort zone. I've worked in and around the Corvette industry for 15 years, and overall values for used and classic Corvettes are very strong.

I wonder if those were dealer cars that never sold.

Call me crazy, I dont see anyone buying a LS Boss 302 for 50k when the GT350 base is 50k
Easy- your crazy.
1st you can't get a base GT350 for $50k UNLESS you have a dealer willing to custom order for you. 90% of 16/17 GT350s over the next 2 years are gonna be Dealer ordered for Showroom stock...and they ain't gonna order a base model.

2nd. Name. Boss 302 is all about Ford history and future collectors will be buying it for that reason- the return of "the Boss"- a damn rare car and a name that isn't coming back.

A current standard PPGT will out "run" (in the hands of the correct driver-which excludes 90% on this forum) a 2000 Cobra R. But at 300 units (fewer now with accidents along the way over the past 15 yrs) it will always be collectible and hold value.

The 2012 Boss 302 and that classic side C stripe (superior front nose on the 12 that ties much closer to the 69/70 Boss also) in the Laguna Seca version is also a very rare car and very rarely seen on the street (unlike the soon be be much more common 16/17/18? GT350). The "fine" low mile examples will always be collectible and retain value.

Hell, a current 2015 6 banger for $25k will outrun a 1965/66 GT350 in terms of acceleration, top speed, braking, and handling but I do not picture many 65/66 GT350 owners crying in their milk and begging 2015 6 banger owners to swap rides....

A lot of people are looking to the LS302s because they have been well kept and encountered low miles. A lot of people will be coming off their LS cars to get this car.

I know of a 2013 LS with 300 miles on it. Owner wants to get rid of it simply because, "I'm scared of it!" He will get his $49k asking price because the car is brand new essentially and no one has to worry about ADM or haggling with a dealer to get the car.

To some, that will be as close to a GT350 they will get, and be extremely happy with it.

I've got to give you credit: You may be wrong, but you're never in doubt. :p

I have no basis in fact at this time either, but there's no way I can believe that only 10% of GT350s will be customer-ordered cars. Dealers are in business to sell cars - not own them - and a customer car is money in the bank, ADM or not. In fact, I'd bet that more than your 10% total number already are in the system as customer-ordered cars.

Yeah by default the M2 will have to underperform compared to the m4, just how BMW neutered the 1M/135 relative to the M3/335i
How is that? The 1M and M3 comparo is apples and oranges (different drivetrains). A 135 vs 335? I have owned them both (N54 and N55 variations), and the 1 series is always a tick faster.

The fact that the N54 or N55 can pull the weight of a 1, 3, or 5 series with similar authority is a side effect of turbocharging: the greater the load (exhaust heat) the harder they work. Look at how those F150 EBs scoot with trailers!

Maybe... but I'm in Cali and that 10% is way HIGH -reality is probably 2-3%. At MSRP this car is gone ...dealers will order (Tech package) add $5-20k market adjustment and let it sit for 30 days...then step off ADM if it doesn't move. I think your gonna find on lot turn around times to be very very short-except for the insane dealers holding out of very high ADMs...

That is exactly my point. The 1M and M3 was made apples and oranges by BMW for no other reason than market segmentation. They could have put the V8 in, but didnt as to not cannibalize the sales of the M3.

Same goes for the 135 and 335. I was all about the 135 before it was launched, only to be disappointed it was only marginally lighter than the 335 and essentially offered the same performance in a much smaller package.

And don't forget significantly less expensive without a loss of refinement along with a true rag top.

I dont see how that is at all relevant to how BMW segments their cars

Huh? A Z4 is the smaller and lighter BMW, the one series and 2 series is their entry level coupe and convert.

All I know is what the sales person happen to mention while I was shopping for my GT in May/June.

I mentioned I had been looking around on forums and the GT seemed to be the bang for buck yadda yadda, and she said "We have an allotment of 3 gt350s if anyone on the forum wants one."

Just sayin
