Dirty Sanchez, Your arrogance is apparent. You work for the largest Ford dealer in the world. The market that Galpin Ford has the luxury of selling cars in is unlike the majority of markets anywhere else. As such, your experiences cannot compare with the rest of the country where markets are far more realistic. I am an alumni of USC. That area is unlike any other. Enjoy it, you are lucky to be selling in such a dense market to those who have money to burn.

People in LA suffer from californication.

Supply & demand...

The problem here is that the 2015 are of limited supply (136) and the 2016 are not. Nothing you say after that matters.

If you do not want to pay ADM, just order a 2016. Both the 15 and 16 come off the same line, and will be built within months of each other. But for those who can not wait, I suggest you spend moAr so you can have it in your garage a few months before others. That way you can tell your ego, you win.

Just one problem with your theory... 2016's are in limited supply as well. If you know how they're not, let all of us know so we can all be in the same page.

Arrogance is an understatement here. This guy has elevated himself from car salesman to "dealer". There was a tool of a car salesman from Galpin who was on TS for months back in '07 when the first year GT500s were hot. All the same crap about 10K, 20K, etc. over sticker due to "limited production". The guy made a fool of himself everyday for months until the summer of 2007 when Ford put 0% financing on the remainder of the 11,000 first year GT500s with the '08s on deck. This guy disappeared that very day and was never heard from again.

Giving a car salesman terminology like "limited production is like giving a monkey a bowl of pudding.

Well I fully understand the supply and demand realities, but those realities should be performed in an ethical and transparent manner. I don't blame dealers for trying to maximize profits as I am sure most of us do in our own personal and business lives, but that line can blurred into questionable ethics.
On another note, I do feel there is something different about this car, especially the R version and think that it does make sense as an investment. All new and completely different engine philosophy, Ford's resurgent interest in Motorsport , and much more limited than previous special edition or performance mustangs. Who here feels that the R version will have some decent upside down the road, and not 20 years plus down the road?
Don't get me wrong, if my deal works out I will drive the car because I want to enjoy it, but just throwing the question out there.
So, find and ethical dealer. Every client I have on a GT350 has a complete breakdown of what they are paying for the car in writing with their order number and/or VIN if they have one already. Their deposits are refundable just in case something happens in their life and can't or won't buy the new car. It's not that hard to find an ethical dealer. Ask someone you know for a referral. And if you feel shaky about that deal, walk away! Your gut is probably telling you something. Especially those paying near MSRP. Those are the ones I fear for. lol

Hi, I don't remember insulting you, so maybe ease into it, huh Candy?

Galpin is the largest in the world and because of that, we get calls from literally all over the world on these cars. I've literally talked to people from everywhere and they have told me/us what their local dealers are charging and what their allotments are. You'd be surprised how much information we can gather just from talking to clients and from being present on these types of message boards. Our market is a little higher in price here, but it's obviously not jsut LA since people all over this board, and all over this nation are paying over sticker at different levels indicating that overall, there IS a bigger demand than supply. Not hard to figure out, Mr. USC.

:frusty: Im a business man and this explanation does not make sense. To say dealers don't set the price on this just not correct. If the dealer made a decision not to take an ADM they would still sell the car at MSRP all day long and not a penny less, they don't have to add an ADM they "choose" to, Ford corporate set the price and the dealer made a choice to get more out of something they didn't "need" to. A dealer doesn't have to sell a single car for less than MSRP, you "choose" to. Your business and competitors set this. Blaming it on the consumer, thats the worst excuse for a business to use and saying that does nothing but discredit and question the honesty of your business. I have not had one dealer ask me what Im willing to pay, they just told me 10K ADM...so who set what? It almost sounds like dealer collusion.

Im not bitter or angry, and I do wish the best for the guys who do get one but blaming it on the consumer, eh, give me a break, your dealer wants the extra cash. I can pay the ADM for this car if I want to but to be honest once I hit the 70K range there are a lot of other cars I would consider over this one for many reasons. The dealers have completely missed the point of this car, value and performance.
As a business man, you should know, don't leave money on the table. I'm being honest here. If we were charging sticker for out GT350's, we'd be sold out in 2 seconds. Can't do that when we have only a handful of these cars coming in for the ENTIRE year. My customers are being handled very ethically, thank you. They have every piece of information they need in writing and have ordered their cars to their own specs. There are good dealers, thanks. :ford:

There are certainly cars we have to discount sometimes to be competitive or make a deal...I have no problem negotiating a deal on a Fusion, Focus, F-150, heck even a regular GT...and the market/buyers dictate that. If I could sell everyone of the them at sticker, I would. lol But, that's not the market. Again, the buyer sets that, the market and manufacturers respond. No one complains if they get a total of $10k off a new F-150, but charging $10k over on a GT350 is bonkers apparently even when we have folks willing to pay that and more on a limited car. But again, every GT350 that comes thru my door will be pre-sold vs my lot where I have 400 F-150's sitting waiting to be sold.

And that argument about it now being in a different price category is complete bunk. What cars? M3? Cayman? Vette? Go ahead, take one of those. They aren't the same and few people will cross shop those cars. If you pass on a GT350 for a M3, cool, someone else will get the GT350. And that person, everytime he sees a GT350 scream past him on the track is going to kick himself. :frusty: Don't let that be you! :D

I see your point but that doesn't mean it is on the consumer because your dealer made their "choice", there is little ethical business out there anymore so Im not surprised. As far as selling for MSRP, yes you can, what difference does it make if they sell in 2 seconds or two days...no answer needed.

If I could sell everyone of the them at sticker, I would. lol But, that's not the market.
Really? You can but you choose not to, regardless of the reason or any argument written here to justify your position it is still your dealers decision and "choice". The market my a.., youll take as much as you can for the greed and profit. I get it, I dont operate that way.

No one complains if they get a total of $10k off a new F-150,
Apples and oranges but at the end of the day it is the dealers "choice" at what price to sell, you can say no. Besides your Top end F150 is 8K more than a Tundra Platinum.

for a M3, Go ahead, take one of those.
Well at least Ill know the fit and finish will meet a great standard, you might search the forums for some of the questionable fit and finish I have seen here, but for 70K, whatever. But thats a consumer choice not your problem, fact, but not your problem. Quality hmmmm Ford vs Porsche....hmmmm

Im done with this, say whatever you want to this response because I dont care, your wrong, your dealer has a choice, it is all about being honest and ethical which I understand most businesses these days are not. But at the end of the day you have to be able to explain why it isnt the Dealers "choice" to sell at MRSP, what negative effect is there if you sell for MSRP?

I choose to bow out and Im comfortable with that.

If you feel I have insulted you then I do apologize, thats not my intendt.

End of discussion for me because I dont want to be mean spirited because really I am not. we just see it differently. Besides you should be out selling cars right? LOL

I also have to stop writing novels.

Clearly you dont even own a 2015 to be making sweeping generalizations the fit and finish of the 2015 is bad. My GT is perfect actually.

There are 9000 members here, but over 100k 2015s sold already. What you see is a SMALL fraction of the cars sold total, and the people with problems are always the most vocal. The vast majority of people have no big fit and finish issues with the 2015.

If you think all BMW, Mercedes and Porsche fit and finish are perfect, you clearly don't own or haven't driven one of those either. The ONLY cars that are "perfect" are supercars where each is panel is gapped by hand and a dozen hours spend visually inspecting them by hand. So go spend $70k on whatever car you think is "best" because it won't be perfect either.

Good post!

Excellent points. The German stuff is no where near perfect as you know. Ford purveys a fantastic product for the dollar.

We have owned plenty of high end cars in the family, not me personally but my father, Porsches also, they were perfect. we can argue all you want about it but it wont get us anywhere because we wont agree regarding Porsche. Besides thats not the point of my overall conversation. But many folks other than the Ford fans in the general public will also disagree with you, which is probably all about perception.

I dont disagree with that, for the dollar.

ok I dont agree that dealers dont set price, because they have the choice, no one can tell me they dont because there is no penalty to selling for the sticker price.. i dont berate anyone for paying an ADM, Im just not that guy.

sorry I spun everyone up, honestly.

What difference does it make? For a big store, that's a difference of over $200k. You're right, no answer is needed. That's self explanatory. For a smaller dealer, that money is even more useful.

Really? You can but you choose not to, regardless of the reason or any argument written here to justify your position it is still your dealers decision and "choice". The market my a.., youll take as much as you can for the greed and profit. I get it, I dont operate that way.
I'm not sure why I have to keep repeating myself...if people were not paying it, we would not be selling them. You seem to forget that people pay over retail on homes, shoes, computers, new phones, etc etc...this is a BUSINESS thing, not a car thing. If the house is crap, you negotiate down to an acceptable value. You buy a fully renovated house, here in LA, you're paying over list, no doubt. The GT350 is not a crap car. See?

Apples and oranges but at the end of the day it is the dealers "choice" at what price to sell, you can say no. Besides your Top end F150 is 8K more than a Tundra Platinum.
You're right, it is apples to oranges which is why you shouldn't be comparing buying any regular car to a GT350.

And second, the Tundra is the biggest piece of crap out there in the truck market. If you were on my lot, I'd give you 30 minute walkaround showing you WHY the Ford's are more expensive and why you should spend the extra money on a Ford. But, that's a whole other speach. lol

Yea, again, that's not a issue when selling a GT350. I don't know anyone who is buying a stripped down, roadrace car like a GT350 that is going to be expecting the same leathers/wood from a grand touring car like an M3. An M3 will not retain it's value like a GT350 either. And there will never be someone who's looking at a 385 hp Cayman vs a 525hp GT350. Are you?? Two very differenct buyers. That's like saying someone cares about the mpg on a GT350 or Shelby. :headbonk:

No problem. I've been negotiating with people for two decades, so you don't upset me at all. We're all Mustang guys looking for the best deal on a hot car. As I said, I work for Ford and I won't be able to get a deal on one, so best of luck to everyone else who does or can work a deal out. I envy my customers with their orders in. Hopefully you understand that a dealer has to make a business decision at times on hot products. In the end, that helps on the other side if I need to take a loss somewhere else, it won't hurt as much. And dealers do take true losses. I took a trade in a few months ago that looked like a clean Toyota pickup. Turns out it had frame damage and was never reported to the state so it never showed up on carfax or other reports. We ended up taking a $4000 bath because of it. It happens.

I meant perfect as in every car that comes off the line. Not yours on mine.

Mass production = not perfect 100% of the time. Hand built and inspected = perfect 99.99% of the time.
