I think I prefer the fog strip instead of those round lights. They just don't seem to "match" with the more modern looking front lights. Love these fronts - so maybe I need to get in on that kickstarter aswell :D

Hey, I love it when people dig deep into my renders -- it means they are actually thinking about them.

The intention was to allow for some airflow, though admittedly it would be less than stock. However, I am no expert in fluid dynamics, so if it is better the block out the little slit between the inner grille and outer one, that would be fine with me as long as it kept the visual depth.

Think of it sort of like the "fangs" on the production (GT?) grille -- but angled severely out.

Sorry for the pretty crude illustration, but this shows the general idea:

From a purely aerodynamic standpoint I think it would be better for it to be open to allow airflow. Blocking it off would create Drag I would think.

Nah, that won't matter. Ford tends to block larger parts of their grilles than that...

I think theres a slight difference. On the s197 shown there isnt a pocket. On Rampant's design, without allowing the air through, theres going to be a V shaped pocket on each side. Maybe that would make a difference?

Aerodynamics are not my strong point ^.^

Some cars make an air pocket on the front, which spins around like a dryer and allows air to split around it.

I'm old school on the fog lights too. Maybe do LEDS round the fog lights like some after market companies have done for Minis. In real life the look very nice. I like the Orange without the Audi look.

Hey Rampant, do you have a slightly overhead view you could work with? I would love to see home hood designs in the thread!

I've always had a thing for this type of hood:

I know since the 'stang holds her motor up front the design can't be as dramatic as the first two, but maybe more terminator like?

First, let me say I very much like the various renders of yours, jjw, and Chaz (and others). Appreciate the effort.

Regarding the aero: It's probably six of one, half a dozen of another, frankly. Most aren't going to use the car in a manner that aero would matter, so let your aesthetic tastes/skills dictate. If you are really interested in reducing the drag, you want the grill opening as small as possible yet large enough to give adequate engine cooling; it's less draggy to have the air go over the exterior of the car instead of through the cooling stack, into the underhood area, and out through the bottom or through hood/fender vents. To reduce the opening as much as possible, you'd want to reduce the 'blockage' created by the grill mesh, so use a much more open mesh. Also, the fog light wells and LED 'slits' should be removed or made flush w/ the surrounding fascia. Again, only if aero is of very high priority, because I think what you have now looks much better than a highly aero design.

Hey Rampant, do you have a slightly overhead view you could work with?...I've always had a thing for this type of hood:...
Check out my last thread.

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=881&highlight=body+kit+fun

I already did the Terminator style hood:
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1807&stc=1&d=1382485451

And a couple others:

There are a few more colors/etc. in that thread, but those are the different hoods.

I put links here instead of embedding to keep the image load times down.

This site sure gets around huh? Rampant, the body kit renders really are fantastic. You, chaz and jjw's work just keeps getting better and better.

This one has my vote out of the latest.
But I still love this white one.....

I just wish it had those deeper cuts in the character line like the latest renders are showing. Without any scoop I think it's needed to spice up the side view.

rampant, this thread has been the most fun for me. although chazcron's renders are great you have taken them in a different direction. now with that said what can your do with that rear high quarter shot of the green car? I also wanted to through out a "what will the scalene look like" challenge to see if that gets the creative juices flowing again. but I still say the gulf scheme is where it's at...

I am glad to hear you are having fun with it -- I certainly had fun making the images.

I am not sure which rear view you are referring to, so if you could please post a link I can see what I can do. Unfortunately, time is severely impacted right now so I am not sure when I can get to it. I am also tempted to wait until the official unveiling -- since it is so close -- and use those images as a base.

As far as Saleen, if the Camaro is any indication, it will most likely only be a lip kit.

Though, I could put a slightly tweaked, current lower front on to see what it would look like.

for whatever reason i can not quote the image from the other thread however after looking at it again i do not really think there is much for you to work with. and i suppose i can wait until the reveal..lol.. as for the saleen, i really like the styling of the previous cars but in the recent years i feel they have lost a step, a saleen used to command attention to itself. and i have no idea how in my last post i managed to spell it scalene but i am glad you knew what i meant..lol..

Ramp, we need some S550 renders based on actual pictures! Got anything in the works?
