Imo, The larger lower grill looks more like a special edition, whereas the smaller lower grill looks more like an OE design...
Meaning you like the larger lower opening?

That is a current-gen GT500 design feature which is probably where you are subliminally getting the SE v. standard reference.

Here is an updated "strip LED turn signal" design:

It gives is a more modern look, but keeps the simplicity of the round fog lights while adding a little more aggression to the Edge style lights from before.

This might be my new favorite....
You're killing me man, and I mean that in the best way possible. Really, really good work. I'm going to tell you right now that if the factory front ends up really close to what has been rendered by Chaz for us, I'm going to want to change it out for something as awesome as this or the round fog one you made.

I like them both equally, maybe a slight preference to the larger lower. Your gt500 reference makes sense. Curse these subconcious thoughts! I really hope Ford is watching this site and takes the hint. If they don't catch on to this design, the aftermarket will.

I wonder if anyone at Ford is reading this thread and going  why didn't I think of that?

I love how simple it is. I would rather have a grille like this the large fog lights and openings.
I don't actually think it would end up being a simple design. I've been wondering how you would layer the three levels of grille on that car.

For example, with the blue 'stang. You have the first layer, that is body color, and underneath that you have a recessed flat black piece that forms the outline of the second layer grille. Then as a third layer of this grille you have the mesh or whatever you use. I'm curious. Can air flow between the top and mid layer ( blue and black ) ?

Rampant, have you put in any thought on this? are these three separate distinct pieces each with their own depth into the bumper or are they all flat against one another? (if we were looking down at it)

sorry to dig so deep into your render :)

I may have to help with that at some point. I was thinking the same thing.

I think the black is just a grille frame. No air movement. You could, but I think you'd be detracting from engine cooling and aerodynamics.

Sorry, but I don't quite understand. Did you want the "double grille" on the one with the round fog lights?

Here is a quick one, with the lower portion from the strip LED turn signals:

Or were you talking about putting fog lights in the grille (I hope not :))?

Hey, I love it when people dig deep into my renders -- it means they are actually thinking about them.

The intention was to allow for some airflow, though admittedly it would be less than stock. However, I am no expert in fluid dynamics, so if it is better the block out the little slit between the inner grille and outer one, that would be fine with me as long as it kept the visual depth.

Think of it sort of like the "fangs" on the production (GT?) grille -- but angled severely out.

Sorry for the pretty crude illustration, but this shows the general idea:

If you look at the Venza's lower grille, it has a similar effect -- just widen the outer edges of the "inner grille".

Originally, the inspiration came from this, which, incidentally looks like it is blocked between the inner grille and the outer frame:

....man, I still love looking at the cc100 :D

I apparently missed typing words. No fog lights is what I meant. Or minimal fog lights.

the green is pretty damn slick too, if you knew me then you would have realized that was my color.

Yea the Mustang's rear end needs to be taken in and taken down at least a few good inches for sure.

Fingers crossed Ford manages to do that for the S550.

It doesn't look like fangs to me but it still looks awesome. This would be a really interesting aftermarket look and set the 6G apart from all previous gens.
