Mods lead to Code P0430 - Help!

I've added a Ford Performance/Borla catback exhaust, JLT CAI, and Stainless Master Long Tube headers which I thought would be simple enough to gain a few HPs on my 2018 GT with 21,000 miles. I also had BAMA send me a tune file on an SCT tuner.

Ugh, now every 100 miles or so the engine light turns on and I'm getting warning codes. A month ago, I had P0316, P0420, P0430, and P06E4 show up. I reset the codes and took my car back into the shop who installed the headers. They checked the install and ran some computer tests which showed the O2 sensors on the headers were working okay. I went for a nice drive this past weekend and the light came on again, this time just the P0430 code. And, during one restart, the engine ran at 1100 rpms in Neutral. Then after driving for a bit, the rpms came down to normal in neutral.

Just curious if anyone else has had these engine code issues on similar mods to their GT. I feel like BAMA didn't give me a good tune (they messed up the first file they sent me by setting the shift rpms higher than the limiter). I think they only variable they took into consideration on the tune file was the CAI and they said no tune adjustments were needed for the long tube headers and catback.

Do you think a good custom tune would solve my problems?

Do you have cats on with your longtubes? Stock or high flow?

If you just want to get rid of the code, get a O2 sensor spacer/extender and it should be gone. A little surprising it's just been the one and not coming with P0420 too, but maybe one of your cats is going bad (from the extra flow due to longtubes).

I can't tell if it's a vocal minority issue but I have not seen a single good word come out of someone who loaded a BAMA tune on their car so my gut instinct points to that being the issue.

I'd go with either Lund or get it dyno-tuned at a reputable shop.

You may also want to look into getting an O2 sensor extender because your readings are probably off due to the increased air flow from the headers. I had a similar issue when I installed my downpipe but it went away once I popped that guy on.

The cat efficiency codes come up when you run long tubes without the appropriate tuning adjustments for those new headers. Some of the 3rd party commercially available calibration software will no longer allow them to make the necessary adjustments through tuning any longer unfortunately. So we've had some competitor tuned clients that decided to make the switch over to our Mycal programmer lately since they were told to do things like run spacers instead of the full header tuning adjustments being applied. You do you, but I won't risk my motor and I won't tell others to risk theirs. If you want the car to run right, get a real tune/tuner for it like Lund or Luis Ortiz. The $1kish for a custom tune is much more palatable than the $6k-$7k for a new motor. But that's just my 2 cents.

Just have them shut off the rear o2s and call it a day.

Update since original post. I took the car into a performance shop who ran a Dyno tune. Car runs much better now. A couple of hundred miles since the tune and no more warning codes. Not a big fan of Bama, their tune files, and help desk.

Just search the board here and you'll find plenty of reasons to avoid Bama.
