I'll start off by saying I'm a total newbie when it comes to buying any aftermarket parts for a car. Prior to my Ecoboost Mustang I've driven older cars that I never even considered doing anything to since I never felt they were truly mine (one was a 2002 Nissan Sentra my parents bought for me when i was in high school and a 2000 Lexus ES300 which was really my fathers car that he handed down to me with 98k miles on it.

Fast forward to now and here I am with my first car and it happens to be one of the most popular cars for aftermarket mods! Here are a few questions i have:

How do car tunes work? I see some cold air intakes require tuning as well. Is it possible to screw up the car by having a custom tune?

Which exhaust pipe do you guys recommend? I've gone into the different review threads but I'm still not sure which I'd want, i want one that'll improve the power of the car and not just sound.

Is it better to install mods now with only 750 miles with regards to the overall performance of the car over its lifetime? I'm clearly not an expert on cars but I do know that if one part isn't performing optimally it affects other parts as well.

Initially I was going to wait a little while maybe a couple years but I really want an exhaust now. I'm thinking air intake/tune & exhaust now and ill do other stuff later like upgraded brakes and sway bar anti roll kit and stuff like that. What do you guys think?

CAIs are fine without a tune, you just won't get the most from it. A tune is by far the best place to start. For the fewest headaches, you may consider a Stage 1 kit from MAP.

Why do you want sway bars and brakes? What are you planning on doing with the car? Most drivers are never going to push the car hard enough to realize they need a new sway bar. Do you plan on drag racing it? Auto cross? If so what class? HPDEs? Then cooling may be important. Figure out what you're going to do with he car first.

That said, the best bang for your buck, as reiterated everywhere on here, is a tune. So long as you're not attached to your warranty.

The other parts are great add ons, but my first part would be an intercooler upgrade. Heat management is very critical to good sustainable power in these cars. The factory intercooler is woefully undersized for any type of hard core driving, and gets heat soaked very quickly. After that, I would look at a tune and intake to take advantage of the upgraded IC.

I feel like sway bars would create a more comfortable ride. It's my daily driver not going to be doing any racing.

Sway bars = stiffer = less suspension travel and less comfort. Not to mention, you're not necessarily improving handling. A lot of guys will throw on a strut bar and thicker sway bar up front and create gobs of under steer. I'm not expecting you to know this and I'm sure it's why you made this thread. ;)

Sounds like you'd be happy with a cold air and exhaust. Maybe a boomba bob adapter if you want fun noises. And when it starts to feel slow, go buy you a tuner from MAP.

With an intake like maps you won't need the boomba adapter. All the fun turbo noises come through loud and clear, almost to loud sometimes. Some days it annoys me the way the factory controller is constantly opening the valve.

I use to be hooked onto modding everything possible but as I grew older, that urge has subsided. Now with this new Mustang, the bug is nibbling on me again, but the most I'll do is intake and muffler delete mainly for aesthetic purposes. I've also ordered a hitch and bike rack to compliment my outdoor life style, and LEDs to change out all the interior lights. I also plan on ordering NAVTOOL so I can install VIDEO INPUT and play videos off my stock display, and headrest monitors as well.
