Hi everybody,

For more than one year I’m owner of a Mustang S550, and I’m based right now in Germany.

I’m looking forward to install a full exhaust with valves, CAI ( roush ) and a tune. My question is now, is it worth to buy the intercooler now too, when I do all these modifications ? Is it worth another 500€ or 700€ with the pipes ?

Also what do u think about the pop and bang map ? Is it really bad for turbo ?

I already changed an engine on it, because the first one blown up due to a bad ecu tune I suppose.. unfortunately.

Also, what other modifications are mandatory for it ? Or what else should I do to it ?

I don’t have the performance pack on it, it’s the premium pack. So my brakes are pretty small, and I kinda wanna upgrade them, but the kits are really expensive, over 1.500€.

Also, my car it’s imported from US, so US model. I have the red tail lights but they’re not sequential, and I have no idea why. Maybe they got turned off from ecu or mechanical ? Idk..

I have so many other questions for you.. .

CAI look really 'cool' but will give you zero performance gain. Do the intercooler first.

hes correct, buy whatever CAI you think looks coolest, but they likely yield less hp than stock box as heat enters many of the aftermarket boxes

#1 as said, replace that intercooler.

Then start mods.

CAI does nothing, I say this.from experience, swapping out my GT 350 intake to an injen this week due to unbelievable intake temperatures.

Don't be that arschloch with the backfire tune.........

Where are the different Intercoolers made? There's one on Ebay that's probably Chinese. Are they all?

CAI does nothing but sound, I have the mishimoto CAI and its loud, you really hear the diverter valve, which is what I wanted. As for the FMIC, get that first. It has gains with or without a tune. I have the MAP street FMIC with stock charge pipes. Did a world of a difference. The car no longer boggles at high temps and it has more upper RPM pull.

There are two types of CAI for the Mustang. The common models are just for show. The good ones, like the Roush unit, are fully sealed and retain the intake through the radiator frame. This means they get cooler, clean air. And the increased filter area improves flow capacity. The intercooler is a vital part of any upgrade because it allows the air into the combustion chambers to to remain cool enough not to need to retard the timing. The other two essential mods are a 3 inch downpipe and a good tune.

No. You get what you pay for. Get a cheap China IC, install it, you get heatsoak, get a better IC and throw away the cheap one. Just get a good quality IC to begin with.

I was so offended that the Mishimoto was made in China, and they espouse "engineered in the USA",
I sold it and installed a Mountune. Made in the UK, and I can live.with that.

That's why I was asking where they were built. If they're _all_ Chinese, then it makes it a little tricky.

Where is the CVF made?
