Just throw a Whipple on the Mach 1.

The Mach 1 is a super strong foundation already. Has all the GT350 and GT500 goodies, lots of cooling all around, Tremec manual.

The Mach 1 is peak “GT” S550. It has all the good bits from the GT350/GT500 and the best modern manual trans in a car. If it’s a manual, I’m not sure I’d give it up unless I just couldn’t physically drive it. If it’s an auto……I’d still probably keep it.

I’ve just got a factory power 2016, and at 435hp is more than enough for me. Been thrown in jail once for a speeding ticket, I don’t need the temptation of a rocket ship masquerading as a Mustang haha.

And the reliability of a regular cross plane crank gen 3 coyote.

I wouldn't give that crook Hennessey a dollar!
I had no idea he was so hated. just did a bit of reading about the guy. Not seen anything recent that would concern me but some dark stuff back in the day for sure.

So to re-suggest the option... just get a S/C installed and call it a day on the Mach 1, it can handle that with all the other stuff it already has easily.

I’ve seen a few reliability posts here now, so to clarify. The 5.2L Predator that is in the GT500 is also cross plane crank. Every bit as reliable as a 5.0L Coyote, maybe more so considering the power levels the Predator can handle in stock form. It is not the same as the Voodoo that’s in the GT350, so don’t let the same 5.2L displacement fool you.

Also, the Voodoo issues tend to get amplified here, there’s way more examples of Voodoo’s not having issues than those that have issues. Including several that have boosted their Voodoo’s and have zero issues.

The 5.2L Predator engine is dead on reliable. A Mach 1 with a whipple will not have the same level of cooling that the GT500 has. I drive my GT500 in summer weather on track for 20-30 minutes at a time (basically until I run of out of gas) with little/no issues in terms of heat soak (after increasing the SC intercooler brick and SC lid). Even before the minor cooling mods, I was still able to competitively compete in class in Time Attack as a 100% stock drivetrain with little consideration towards heat soak.

I would still suggest keeping the Mach 1 naturally aspirated. Buy the GT500 if you want a boosted car.

Great idea - thanks, I’m looking into it.
Do not give ANYTHING to Hennessey. Do some research on them before you give them a penny. Lots of unhappy customers.

Anyway I would not trade your Mach 1 for a Shelby Super Snake because you don't even know what car you're buying. Its not a GT500, its a blower added to a GT, completely different.

Do more research.

Then, if you did want a Super Snake or a GT500, you're getting taken advantage of by trading your mach 1 into a dealer for whatever lowball price they're factoring in. Sell the M1 private for the most money and then do a deal on the other car.

I definitely say keep the Mach 1. You can make a Mach 1 STUPID fast with a few bolt ons and a tune. And still be pretty reliable. ESS is a very economical way to boost, and it works... Plus the Tremec is solid if its a manual...

For a GT500, yes it is worth it. 👍

GT Super Snake... no I don't think it is worth it. 👎

As a mustang and viper owner, the below is applicable to both my opinion and reality. :giggle:

I just want to point out that the Super Snake in this picture is one that actually started life as a GT500.

For the s550 ones that started as a GT, I ask...how can it be a Super Snake if it was never even a snake to begin with??
