I see many Mishimoto upgrades out there for radiator and oil cooler… are they a big improvement from stock or do they just look pretty?

I‘m not a Mishimoto fan. What ever they make there are higher quality better performing parts offered by other manufacturers.

There's always something bigger and better out there, that doesn't mean that a certain product is bad.

For the price and if you can get them on sale (I got the radiator on BF for $389) the performance per dollar is good. Are there better parts that perform better? Without a doubt...but at nearly twice the cost I sure hope so.

OP it really depends on what you need and what you do with the car. For a basic street/track car they work fine. For a dedicated race car I'd probably do something better.

They just look pretty. They're completely useless unless you're road-coursing the car regularly.

Especially if you have PP1 or PP2.

Ford already over-engineers their cooling systems. Unless you're a racer, it's un-necessary to touch it.

You're talking about 50 additional horsepower and that's from the coolant cover alone, so I'd say yeah, totally worth it.

There's nothing wrong with Mishimoto products and most folks don't even realize they're built right here in the US. I have their radiator in my 94 Cobra - in fact if we really want to go down the road of "higher quality", the Mishimoto just replaced a leaking Fluidyne radiator.

It also was not the first Fluidyne - it was the 3rd I've had in the car in 18 years of ownership... @ over $400 a pop for each one. There's no reason anyone should have to replace an aftermarket aluminum radiator... not 1x, but let alone 3. Each Fluidyne leaked from the core row intersection into the tanks.

The Mishimoto I received was better over all build quality as far as welds and construction than the last 3 Fluidynes. It also comes with a LIFETIME warranty after it's registered with Mishimoto - something Fluidyne and other aftermarket radiator manufacturers do not offer. Mishimoto stands behind their products 100%.

So even though the Fluidyne cost $100+ more than the Mishimoto, "higher quality because of price point" doesn't vouch for its actual poor quality and lack of longevity.
