Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my metal start button from https://5spurs.com/. To say that I am in love with it is an understatement. The quality is incredible...but then again, being manufactured with a 5-axis CNC machine, one would expect nothing less than quality.

I have inquired with 5spurs about the possibility of making toggle switches out of metal and they said they have thought about it, but are unsure if the market is there.

So I figured, maybe a poll is in order to see if people would want them...goodness knows I definitely want some after installing this metal button...

Honestly, while this is a very simple modification, for me it changes the whole driving experience...changing the plastic start button to a billet metal button just...I can't really describe it...but this modification in conjunction with the other mods I have done with my car...make it feel like I drive something really special.

When answering the poll...please answer "yes" or "no" and then one (or more) reason(s) as to why you would want them.

Please note that if you answer "other" detail your "other reason" in a response to this thread.

Also please note...the manufacturer is thinking these will cost between $240 and $300 for a set of four switches.

How difficult is it to replace the OEM toggle switches? Hopefully, a lot easier than the OEM recommended method of swapping the start button. I used the pick method and it was changed in less than a minute. I don’t see the toggle swap being as easy but interested if so.

You will have to follow the ford performance instructions and disassemble the radio to access the switch panel...unfortunately replacing these switches will not be anywhere near as simple as the start button.

However, I have also been informed by 5spurs that they could also make these switches in the style of the Ford GT (see attached photo).

Also attached is a photo comparing the 5spurs button to the stock start button.

I really hate the factory toggle switches. I'm up for a whole new panel there.

They just don't have a good feel. They feel more like a toy.

I had a C-Class before and I hated the toggle switches in the Benz too but they felt super nice to use at least.

If they can make them work in reverse I'd pay serious money.

Well...in talking with the managing director...they are thinking around the lines of somewhere between $240 and $300 for the four switches...

Yes this is expensive, but considering the quality of the start button...I can only expect incredible things from this company.

In addition, one has to think about how often these switches are used...

$80 for a start button?

I am certainly one for high quality built products, and they certainly are, but man.

I dig the case they come in..

Yes it is expensive...but SO WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. After installing this button...the best way to describe how I feel when I get into and start the car is through this youtube video

I can only imagine how delighted I will be in putting in the metal toggle switches...

This is the silliest thing I've read on this forum today. 300 bucks for switches.

The 18 start button has a metal appearance...but is not made of an all billet construction

zackmd1...am I correct in this...at least that is what I have gathered from our PM conversation

What about toggles that go both up and down?

That is correct. The 18 start button is all plastic and just a higher quality injection mold used for it's construction.

Replacing the OEM toggles is possible and not too difficult. I have toyed with the idea myself because I love the look of anodized black but I simply don't have the manufacturing capability to make them.
