Just going to say sorry Jimmie.

My real 2 cents is there is way to many critics on this board that like to act like there rear end don't stink. When you first scratch your new ride it bites and sometime that person needs to vent. Of course we know it's are fault if we hit something, but it sucks when you know just one minor detail kicks your rear and you wouldn't have to pay.

But I'm glad some have gold toilet paper because they crap don't smell

Haven't taken any since those last night; I'll try to take some later, currently parked in a well-lit garage.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but all i'm going to say is that living in NYC and owning a car is truly an experience that cannot be properly explained in words. I'm generally not a fan of NYC (I moved here about 5 and a half years ago), but trying to own a vehicle and dealing with the street parking here is HANDS DOWN in my top 3 of things I hate about this place.

Unless you've lived in one of the 5 boroughs and owned a car while doing so, you simply cannot understand.

Then why live there? Move. Born raised in western PA..hated the weather snow cold. Moved to Hawaii. Got bored there after 4 years, moved to California. Not a fan of the libs, gun laws here...looking to move to Arizona or Texas. Life is far to short to live in NYC

I generally agree, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do things you’re not crazy about doing. I moved here for grad school and stayed afterwards for the career opportunities. I don’t plan on being in NYC long term, but for now it’s what is best for my career. So it is what it is and you make the best of it, which is exactly why i'm paying for a parking spot at my current apartment. My old Stang took a BEATING on the street by my previous apartment, I wasn't about to go through all that again.

My family moved to New York from Ireland during the famine (1840's). In the ensuing 170 years, no member of my family has lived more than 30 miles from NYC. In seven generations. You don't just move away from everyone and everything you've ever held dear in your life for centuries because it's difficult to find parking.

Jimmy (The Troll) parked his car and hit someone's trailer hitch, this may or may not have scratched his bumper. He then declared his desire to key/launch a brick through the windshield of the truck that he hit.

That's about it.

My family move to PA in the 1700's. in the ensuing years no member of my family has moved from the Pittsburgh area but me.

Since moving I have lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Italy, Hawaii, California, and had a great time. I fly home and visit those I hold dear in my life after the snow is melted. No reason to live somewhere that sucks when you get one life. I don't care what the rest of my family wants to do.

Putting my car in a garage for 5 months because of snow? No thanks.

There are plenty of reasons to live in and love NYC. The food, theater, tons of variety in culture, a great music scene, the energy, industry/career opportunities, the people etc. There aren't many places like it.

There are also plenty of reasons to leave. I left because the buzz and energy became smothering, the lifestyle was exhausting, things were expensive, hipsters, too crowded, dirty/trash etc.

I'm glad I moved there and experienced it for myself. I met my wife, did a lot of comedy and learned a lot about theater/acting, etc. And I was happy to leave. I miss my friends, of course, but I don't see myself living there again.

Different strokes for different blokes. For example, you'd never catch me living in the south east again, but I know people who love it.

Short version of this thread:

I wanted to vent because last night I was parking in a tight parking space and the car in front of me had a trailer hitch on it which I didn't see and thus bumped into (not causing any damage), and I was pissed that the driver hadn't taken off his trailer hitch, which is a standard courtesy people usually do in New York because trailer hitches take up valuable parallel-parking space.

Then a bunch of people said that, no, everybody's free to keep a trailer hitch on their vehicle wherever and whenever they want and they're not required to take other parkers' convenience into consideration.

That's basically it.
