Since moving I have lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Italy, Hawaii, California, and had a great time. I fly home and visit those I hold dear in my life after the snow is melted. No reason to live somewhere that sucks when you get one life. I don't care what the rest of my family wants to do.

Putting my car in a garage for 5 months because of snow? No thanks.
That's awesome that you've lived a lot of places. I've been a lot of places, although I've never lived anywhere else, and I know that I wouldn't enjoy living anywhere else. To each their own.

Obviously, there's no need to garage a car for 5 months (or at all) because of snow. I mean, see the photos in the original post.

I grew up in WNY; one of the snow capitals of the US....and we never garaged our cars. We always had a Mustang and a Crown Vic or Tbird growing up. I learned to drive sideways better than most people drive straight. :headbonk:

My beater in NYC was a 90 Mustang GT convert; driven year round.

Having a sense of humor means nobody's allowed to agree with you about things?

Short version of this thread:

I wanted to vent because last night I was parking in a tight parking space and the car in front of me had a trailer hitch on it which I didn't see and thus bumped into (not causing any damage), and I was pissed that the driver hadn't taken off his trailer hitch, which is a standard courtesy people usually do in New York because trailer hitches take up valuable parallel-parking space.

Then a bunch of people said that, no, everybody's free to keep a trailer hitch on their vehicle wherever and whenever they want and they're not required to take other parkers' convenience into consideration.

That's basically it.
So it's like one of those principle things... okay. People gettin' personal up in here.

That and I think because its Jimmy - he's an Irish-gangsta-attorney. That's a combination in itself.

I mean less than 24 hours this thread dropped almost 100 replies and 1,800 views. Not that these statistics matter...only Jimmy can ruffle feathers without trying...

I'd put stacks that Jimmy can post a blank thread and will have h8ers leave a comment.

i can't imagine living in a city like that. call me soft, but i love my assigned parking spot at work and my garage at home. this isn't even a possibility.

i am curious, considering where that tow ball is, how on earth was OP going to see that it was sticking out that incredibly ridiculously far?

so if i park like a "Delta Bravo", i can enjoy my beer and my dinner and its everyone else's fault for what ever happens for my lack of common courtesy?

ok, rant over. i am with Mr. Salty/Dry over here.

Then why live there? Move. Born raised in western PA..hated the weather snow cold. Moved to Hawaii. Got bored there after 4 years, moved to California. Not a fan of the libs, gun laws here...looking to move to Arizona or Texas. Life is far to short to live in NYC
I'd love to move to TX, my bro already lives there, but my wife wants to move to FL because her parents are down there now.

Yeah, I'd rather enjoy my car year round than drive a beater. It's just a car, you're gonna get a new one in 3-5 years anyway.

He has made many outrageous/hilarious/ridiculous comments. Really hard to tell when/if he is serious. He brings most of the heat on himself. He is very entertaining if nothing else. I look forward to sharing a cold drink with him one day and having him school me on parallel parking.

Spent the day in Brooklyn today. Canarsie and Bed Stuy. Parking is crazy. I had to drive over ice mountains to get into a spot. I spend a lot of time in Brooklyn and Queens. I havent seen it this bad in a long time.

Meh, maybe it's just me but I find his comments to be fine for the most part. Some might be tongue-in-cheek but so what? There are some around here that get very riled up real, real easy.

I haven't been to BK lately, but Queens (specifically Astoria) is ridiculous right about now. Going to the gym is a shit show because of the street parking conditions. Snow and ice everywhere.:frusty:

Good reads. I'd have to say that there isn't such a thing as "common courtesy" just as there isn't such a thing as "common sense". What seems obvious to one person may be a revelation to someone else. You run into this the older you get because new people join the fray every year and have to learn everything that others already know. In the case of Jimmy, who knows, the hitched driver could have been a significant other driving a car she usually doesn't. Checking the hitch wouldn't even cross that person's mind if that were the case. In my own experience, when I nudge another car when parallel parking it's because I tried to fit into a spot that was a smidge too tight...

And it's not a particularly tight fit, plenty of room between me and the car behind me...
:faint:I beg to differ, but that's beside the point.

Bumper ding aside, that is by far some of the finest parallel-parking I have ever seen.
