Wow jimmy that's a tight spot, LOL!

i cant tell from the angle, but i think you might be ok if that hitch is at the same level as your license plate. it probably took most of the damage
It's a pretty normal spot for my neighborhood in Brooklyn, which is why the trailer hitch thing bugged me last night -- when every parking inch counts, you shouldn't be taking space away from other people with a hitch that you could remove in a few seconds.

I'm happy the front license plate is on because it blocks minor impacts; I hit this hitch as I was straightening out in the spot, really just a tiny tiny tap, and it left a dent in my front bumper a few inches on the passenger side of the license plate that you can't even see, have to run your finger along to feel. It's no big deal at all.

'plenty of room'.

those pictures are giving me a panic attack.
You really do get used to it when you have to park in spots that tight every day. I'd imagine it would be a lot more difficult if I had a manual transmission.

I have to agree, driving or parking in lot spots with a hitch whatever. But if you're parallel parking in the city courtesy would say remove the hitch. You know someone is going to be parking in front and behind you. Most cars you cannot see a low hitch in front, especially in the dark and the hitch juts out messing with your distance perception of the cars in front and behind trying to get into a spot.

There is no need to damage someone else's car to be a dick. Just remove the hitch when parallel parking; no one is saying take it out all the time.

Is it okay to remove "their" hitch ball for them?

I was going to say the same thing. Take the hitch off and place it on their windshield. The Honda Pilot driver would have been shocked but then realized why it was there.

You people who all blame the poor guy who wasn't even in his vehicle...

Take responsibility for you own actions. They hit you, it's their fault. You hit them, it's still their fault? That's some seriously f'd up mentality.

So when someone hits your car because your wheels are wider and they scrap your wheel, it's your fault since you should've left narrow wheels on it? Or hit your nose because you have a roush nose that sticks out father? You all need to realize who made the mistake. Not the guy inside enjoying his dinner and a beer. The blame-other-people asshat who ran into it is at fault.

Sorry you wrecked your own car. Maybe next time pay better attention. You and only you could have prevented that. Stop blaming everyone else.

I'm pretty sure we sorta know Jimmy by now...accepts the fact that his car will get dinged in NYC. His car is a DD. He gets driver respect because most of us can't put ourselves in his situation. Many people, including me, don't DD their 15 in the winter or drive in big city.

Jimmyx2 learned his mistake...he's just venting...we all do it! I don't think he is directing all responsibility on the trailer hitch owner...He didn't see it, he knows it's his fault, but inside (which seriously I'm pretty sure 99.99% would feel the same) would point out the fact that if you cant see something that obstructive it should be made more visible because if he in fact saw it the outcome may have been different.

Question: If you are walking down the street at night and you trip and fall on your face...you are okay, a little scratch and embarrassed. You notice a crack in the sidewalk. ...The crack is visible in the daytime and at night (street lights) but not when the sidewalk is crowded. It's about a 1" difference in depth...Nobody else tripped...just you. Who's fault is it?

These days? The homeowner whose land the sidewalk is on.

Technically the city as you don't own your sidewalk, but yes. His point is very valid. There is only SO much caution one can take (and that others could help prevent)
