So the royal purple gear oil meets warranty standards, BUT synchromax does not, correct?

I've been reading here what you all are using for trans. fluid. And I'm thinking about that XT-11-QDC dual clutch fluid and where did I hear of dual clutch. Then it hits me. The trans. in my mothers 2012 Focus is dual clutch automatic and the Ford number for the fluid is XT-11-QDC. So why does Ford want us to use automatic trans. fluid in a manual trans.? And it makes sense that they want us to use the XL additive so it will make the automatic trans. fluid more slick which would not work out so well in an automatic with the clutch packs. I will be getting that stuff out of my trans.. I have 600 miles on my car and I just did a motor oil and filter change and when I find Amsoil for the trans. it is going in. I used Amsoil in the transmission and final drive of my BMW motorcycles and I could run those bikes all day and you could take your hand and place it on the final drive housing and it will be warm but you wouldn't get burned. Hope I helped out a little. Best, CB
The dual clutch transmission in the Focus is a manual transmission that is shifted by computer controlled solinoids. It has constant mesh gears and syncros like every other manual transmision.

It may shift automatically but the design is not related in any way to the classical automatic.

Recomending the same fluid for the Focus tranny and MT82 in the Mustang makes perfect sense.

FWIW, the XL friction modifier that is recomended for the MT82 makes the oil less slick so the syncros can grab and speed up or slow down the gears for smooth shifting.

This is opposite of what the friction modifier that is used in clutch type limited slip differentials that allows the clutches to slip so the car can go around corners smoothly.
