I've been reading here what you all are using for trans. fluid. And I'm thinking about that XT-11-QDC dual clutch fluid and where did I hear of dual clutch. Then it hits me. The trans. in my mothers 2012 Focus is dual clutch automatic and the Ford number for the fluid is XT-11-QDC. So why does Ford want us to use automatic trans. fluid in a manual trans.? And it makes sense that they want us to use the XL additive so it will make the automatic trans. fluid more slick which would not work out so well in an automatic with the clutch packs. I will be getting that stuff out of my trans.. I have 600 miles on my car and I just did a motor oil and filter change and when I find Amsoil for the trans. it is going in. I used Amsoil in the transmission and final drive of my BMW motorcycles and I could run those bikes all day and you could take your hand and place it on the final drive housing and it will be warm but you wouldn't get burned. Hope I helped out a little. Best, CB

Just to check, how many quarts of royal purple synchro max should we put in? It's the synthetic one listed on amazon right? This won't hurt or transmissions and makes the shifting smoother?

I'm not saying Amsoil is better. I just do not get why Ford puts automatic transmission fluid in the manual transmissions. Even with the XL-18 additive at 27ml that's less than one ounce. That stuff must be really slick. Best, CB

No you will be good to go. Lots of people using Royal Purple or Amsoil for the transmission. I just recommend what I've been using since it works for me. Made a big difference compared to stock fluid, I'm sure Amsoil is the same or better. Can't go wrong either way.

What kind of difference, just how it shifts?

Automatic trans fluid has been used by car companies for decades. Back in the day they used gear oil. Auto fluid works best with the modern syncronizers. Royal Purple or Amsoil will work great in your tranny.

Much smoother when changing gears. Got rid of my notchy gear nibble. Just need to get a good shifter soon.
