I'm trying to run down an issue that goes away after the car is totally warmed up.. Might be the dumbest question ever, but does the manual transmission fluid warm while the car is sitting in neutral?
Thanks!

Indirectly, yes, because the transmission is located near hot stuff like the exhaust and the engine. Directly, no, because nothing is spinning inside the transmission if it is not in gear.

Yes, but rather slowly.

The input shaft is turning, and so is the countershaft and most of the other gears, so you're getting some fluid heating from the fluid being churned and squished between individual gear teeth. The output shaft is disconnected at the synchro hubs.

Let me guess the issue....First few minutes of driving first and/or reverse is difficult to get into. Also when first is difficult to get into and finally engaged, the car will drift forward even while the clutch is fully depressed to the floor.

If I guessed right, I'm having the same exact thing as you.

Started shortly after installing my MGW shifter and Mach 600 clutch kit.
