I haven't seen much regarding the S550. Most of the real problems I've read about is with 11-14, and most of that the 11.
Yeah a lot of the trans issues I read when I was shopping for my 13 were mainly 11's as well. Everything electrical or mechanical is subject to failure. I'm not worried about it. The fact that so many notice it but have not read many failure posts, leads me to believe it's more of a common characteristic of the trans/chassis then a wide spread epidemic of bad transmissions.

I actually got a call from Ford after filling out a survey and I mentioned this. They had a lengthy explanation which I mostly forgot but I was advised this was normal and just the driveline synchronizing. They did agree it was there and would be better without it happening though.

I noticed something the other day (maybe someone else referenced it too), but when I'm spiritedly driving it get the thud 1-2, 2-3, 3-4... After 4th it doesn't do it.

So I tried double clutching and then noticed that double clutching makes the sound disappear.

Anyone else experience this behavior?

Yep. Sometimes I'll double-clutch until it's good and warmed up -- then clutch normally.

I have a base manual Eco and have noticed the thud since I bought the car. Usually in 2nd or 3rd gear only. I can feel it in my hand when I shift. Doesn't matter how hard I drive the car I can take it very easy and feel it.

Thats also what the head tech here at my local dealer told me.

Has anyone tried changing rear diff fluid to royal purple and see if it made a difference on the thud? I am running royal purple syncromax trans fluid and the car shifts so smooth, even in cold startups.

Took a powertrain engineer for a major OEM for a ride yesterday. He is a big Nissian guy. His first question was do these cars dump fuel to give you a more aggressive sound while shifting.

I replied no, just the trans synchronizing. His reply. "Ah, Getrag?"

Hey guys so I just bought a used 2015 mustang gt with the competition package about a week ago and love it so far. The only thing I noticed is that it has this thump when going through gears. The car has 5k miles on it so it has been kind of bugging me. I ordered the white line tranny mount I am hoping it will help. Has anyone figured out what causes it? I read through a lot of the comments on here but haven't seen a answer.

I did find that when shifting through gears if you do a small pause in neutral before going to the next gear it doesn't really do it.

That might work, but you really shouldn't have to shift like a confused grandma just to make your car civilized sounding.
