With the clutch pressed in wait just a tiny bit longer before putting it into the next gear and see if it stops. Also try to avoid pushing down on the shifter, only try push horizontally when changing gear.. seems trivial but the mt82 tends to be alot notchier and thudier if shifting palm down rather than side arm. Usually I only use 2-3 fingers on the front of the knob when going 1-2 or 3-4 and use the base of my palm on the back of the knob when going 2-3 or 4-5, no part of my hand ever touches the top if the shift knob.. only the sides. I noticed a difference when I avoid shifting with my palm face down on top of the knob
Yes, If I granny shift it's somewhat smooth. I didn't buy a Mustang to drive it like a Corolla. I don't beat on it either (3300 miles I have an average of 22MPG) but I expect it to function properly when I want to grab gears.

Add another 15 GT PP to the Thud list. I have 3300 miles and believe it has gotten worse. Anyone tried shifting with clutch completely pressed in while car is in motion? I can get a slight grind in 1st through 4th gear without even letting clutch out. I also have high RPM lock out in 3rd and 5th.
I am right there with you guys car has around 6k miles and thuds 1-3 pretty good. Like posted above me mine will thud with the clutch pressed it and going into gear without even releasing the clutch.
Have you guys been able to bring this up to your Ford Dealers? If so, what have they said?

Not sure if I mentioned this before but warming my car up makes a difference in regard to shift quality. I drive a mile or two before really rowing gears quickly. When the trans is cold it tends to be more notchy. As far as a thud, it makes a small thud going from neutral to 1st. If I engage it slower the thud is less pronounced. When I anticipate the light turning green, I start moving the shifter casually instead of trying to snap it in at the last second.

Now that I've had some time with the Blowfish bracket installed and I have a couple hundred miles on it, this is how it behaves. Shifting is nice once warmed up. 5th isn't as smooth as I would like, still a little notchy here and there but manageable. Other than that, shifting is much improved. Downshifting is fine. The thud is still there but again, it isn't a concern for me. I don't get a hard clunk or anything the passenger would notice.

They will say "It is normal".... like mine did. I have zero issues with my trans other than the ''thud'' and a very slight whine. As I approach 8 k miles it has gotten less notchy and smoother, but the thud remains. My 12 did not thud so something changed in the 15s for this to occur on just about everyone's cars.

This describes my car really well too -- forgive me if you've seen my posts before -- I sometimes double-clutch the first few gears for the first several minutes of driving (3-4 doesn't seem as notchy, usually) and when it's warm, start single clutching.

I've also noticed that the thud occurs before I put it into 1st: clutch in *THUNK* then into gear, then ease it out to roll...

Interesting. You are the first person I have seen that said the shifter change got rid of the thud. Doesn't make sense to me that the shifter would fix it, but good stuff if it did for you.

I was surprised also .. I have done a lot of miles around town after the MGW shifter install .. Last two trips to the GYM ( 18 miles stop and go ) it dawned on me that something was missing .. And that was the thud and gears nipping when shifting .. I was getting both with the stock shifter but the MGW has seemed to change all that .. I was even getting a hard thud speed shifting at the track , that is also gone .. I was ready to trade the car in and get a auto because I was so upset with it .. I felt the MT82 was a pile of junk .. After the shifter change the car feels like a hole new car , the MT82 now feels like a good old M22 Rock crusher or Ford big spline top loader .. I'm not saying it will fix everyone problems but it sure helped mine .. I only have 1900 miles on the car ( I have had it 6 months ) so it's not like I put a bunch of miles on the car and things have broken in and working better .. I have not changed the fluid either , but I do plan to ..

This shifter is probably next on my list. Just the 30% hit due to exhange right now is hard to swallow.

I will say, after 8,000km on the car the tranny does not make any of the annoying noises it made when it was new - aside from the thud. And I only very infrequently have a bit of gear 'crunch' going into third. Other than that no shifting/engaging issues.

Same thing every Ford dealer says. Either "It's Normal" or make an appointment only to show up for the "appointment" and told that you have to leave your car there for a week and they will not give you a rental.

That is funny ... Take it to the ford dealer lol ... The deck lid could fall off right in front of them and they would say , oh well you caused the problem by using the wrong soap to clean the car ... Ford Service is a oxymoron ...

Took mine to Ford dealer last week and they told me it was normal...actually what they said was "we ran all the codes and didn't come up with anything, also there's no TSP on the issue". He did confirm he heard the thus as well but has to assume it is normal since everything checks out.

It should still be checked out to ensure nothing else is going on, ridenfish39.

Please, PM with your info a few days before your appointment so I can escalate it, GhostRider8.

Thanks, Torsen! Let me know when you bring yours in.

Thanks for bringing it in and getting it documented at your dealer, dangilbert33. I’m happy to document it on my end as well. PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Just bought my car last week. I love it and have about 500 miles on it but I noticed I have the thud. Its definitely noticeable as my girlfriend and I feel it every time in the car and especially in 1-3. I love the car but this issue is a bit disappointing.

I have a 2015 6 speed GT PP

What can be done?
Not much. It is considered normal.
