I have feedback on the shifter like a little resistance and like a thump or click sound when shifting into third is that what you guys are talking about?

1 > 2 > 3 have a thud bumping sound here and there.

GT PP - have the thud on mine as well, this thread came up on my google search. :-)

That said, coming from a 2013 focus st... (I realize there are obvious differences between the two) it also would "thud" on the 1-2, then 2-3 shift but it would lessen as the car warmed up. After about 9k miles I only heard it on super cold days.

Not worried too much, it feels like its just a mount thats too squishy.

I'm banking on it going away. Either something has to break in or wear enough to be gone. Mine is sporadic now, sometimes it does it, others it doesn't. Slightly getting better I can say.

Mine thuds like crazy too and I'm convinced it's the syncros aligning the gears, because when you shift at higher RPM's and the gears are somewhat already synced the thud is almost none existant.

I've noticed on mine, if I am slowing to a halt and I put 1st gear say at about 5-10 miles per hour prior to a stop it won't thud. If I then put it in neutral, press clutch and go into first, I get a thud. If I am stopped, I press the clutch for about 5 seconds or so, then put into 1st, no thud...
1 > 2, thud is always there, although it feels/sounds like exhaust gurgle, but confirmed its not. 2 > 3 is everyone in a while. When downshifting, no thuds at all, plus i rev match myself. But the point is no thud when shifting the gear back down. Just weird...

If it is synchros, how much harm is this causing if any at all?

This thread gives me some serious peace of mind. That random WHUMP shifting into gears 1-3 has been disconcerting.

Now if it would stop making the occasional crunchy noise at low speeds around 1st and 2nd gear...

What do you mean crunch? I sometimes get and extra "click" when shifting into gear, usually 1-3, but not a grind at all. I've also notice that when doing spirited driving it does not have the extra "click". This is also random, not necessarily all the time

Mine does this as well, but I don't sweat it because the 2013 WRX/STI I traded in for my Mustang did this often. Hell, the '07 WRX I had before that did it, too.

It happens mostly when cruising at slow speeds while in gear. Like, second gear while slowing down so RPMs fall around 800-1000 follow by some slow acceleration to the 2000ish range. Sounds like two grainy surfaces rubbing together.

Its normal with a rear diff.
I have had (5) manual transmission rear wheel drive vehicles and another (4) rear wheel drive with an auto transmission and have driven countless others. I have not had a clunk, thud, crunch from any if them. This includes my 15 EB Mustang with a manual.

Thud is there. It's pretty subtle, and to me not objectionable. Quirks of the MT82.

I'm confused at your statement. You have or haven't had said issues from them?
