I hope they find the cause!
Yeah, they would be heroes if they found the fix and reported to Ford.

Talking truckloads of beer headed their way.

Don't hold your breath. It's an inherent characteristic of the transmission aka in the DNA

If you find a fix consider yourself hired by the ford engineering team

Hi guys, just spent some time reading all 42 pages of this thread.

I have a brand new 2016 GT Premium PP with the exact same issues in this thread. Build date is 08/15. The car is going back to the dealer on Monday with less than 300 miles on it. I noticed this issue on the drive home after taking delivery, this is unacceptable.

I put a boomba shifter bracket in and it has minimalised the thud by a huge amount. And what thud is left happens more quickly, if that makes sense. Before it was like *shift*...*thud*. Now it's more like *shthudift* Much less noticeable.

That's great... I guess if Ford was to put good parts in the car all the way thru we would not be able to afford the car...
So i got my car back from Dealer yesterday and they could not find the issue we are all having and mine also having a lot of clunky noise to go with thud...
So he told me if I get a after market Shifter and it works, he will pay for shifter...
I will be ordering the MGW shifter tomorrow and see what happens
Mine, besides the "thud" feels like it has 1 1/2 inches of play in the rear end or trans. between shifts, this is why the dealer was taking it back...
The Mustang has a 2 piece driveshaft and i thought the carrier bearing was bad?
Turns out everything is tight in driveline, so I will start with shifter and then 1 piece driveline...
I would of done those mods. anyway..

It's play in the diff, when you take out your drive shaft you will feel it.

I doubt my issue is related to play in the diff because I get the thunk when at a dead stop after shifting into first. I think it's going to be very difficult for the dealer to diagnose because they can't stop at a red light and push it into first with the car on a lift.

If you put in the clutch wait 2 seconds put into first. You probably not hear that thud.

You're correct, if I push the clutch in and wait a couple seconds there is no thunk. It's more annoying when it's happening after running through 1st gear and shifting into 2nd.

Did the MGW shifter improve things any for you?
