Are there any alignment issues to worry about with installing the CB005 and BK055 kits? I have the Steeda diff bushings in hand and I was considering ordering these and doing them all at the same time.
You guys should market this item as reducing the thud. I would have impulse bought this item the day I drove home from the dealership if I knew there was a simple fix.
If that's the case then we're talking about a different noise. Shifting hard is going to make noise and shifting is going to make some noise no matter what but shifting into first from neutral shouldn't feel or sound like you got rear ended.
There are lots of noises from any car, and face it...
Lack of appropriate isolation for the given amount of movement in the rear subframe due to the overly soft differential isolation bushings my guess at this point. Solid rear axle Mustangs with the MT82 don't have this issue because there is no IRS. The fact that automatic cars can get the thud...
They're not talking about the BK054 and the Steeda Differential Bushing Inserts specifically in that video, they're trying to sell other IRS components to stop wheel hop. But it's a great video to illustrate how much movement there is in the rear subframe that can cause the thud.
Here's an interesting video of the subframe movement under acceleration and a mild launch from Steeda:

It'd be great if we could get a video like this of putting the car in first after decelerating to a stop and verify that there is rear subframe movement. The BK054 replaces the bolt and...
That sounds like it might work, Steeda also makes a similar kit that is less harsh:

Anybody tried this?
If the thud is really more apparent on the performance pack cars and not just more noticed by that subset of owners, the rear subframe would be the first place to look for slop.
Here's a list of possible solutions mentioned in the thread to reduce the thud (at least apparent to the driver) to summarize:
- BMR BK054 Rear Differential Bushing Kit
- BMR CB005 Rear Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit
- Steeda S550 IRS Subframe Alignment Kit
- Whiteline Transmission Bushing...

$25, anyone have access? Notice Ford is listed as an affiliated party on the publishing of this paper.
I drove a 2016 base model GT without the performance package today and could not recreate the issue. It was a loaner with < 10 miles on it. This leaves me curious as to what differences could be causing this. I'm going to try to drive another new performance package model and see if I can...
If the blowfish bracket improves things or reduces the delay between the noise and the shift it's possible that the transmission is moving relative to the chassis during this event. I can feel the thunk and thought it was some kind of weight transfer going on. Has anyone tried the blowfish...
You're correct, if I push the clutch in and wait a couple seconds there is no thunk. It's more annoying when it's happening after running through 1st gear and shifting into 2nd.
Did the MGW shifter improve things any for you?
I doubt my issue is related to play in the diff because I get the thunk when at a dead stop after shifting into first. I think it's going to be very difficult for the dealer to diagnose because they can't stop at a red light and push it into first with the car on a lift.
