TLDR: Does anyone keep a self-maintenance logbook for warranty purposes?
I have been a long-time hater of dealerships. In my 10 years of vehicle ownership and 5 different vehicles, I think I have been to a dealership only once. I either do the work myself or take my cars/motorcycles to an independent shop where I personally know the owner. I also never concern myself with warranties because I'll just fix them myself should I need to.
That being said, we want to keep the warranty valid on my wife's car. The dealership told us that if we want to do our own maintenance, we'd need to keep all receipts to keep the warranty valid.
Has anyone done this? Did you make a logbook with receipt scans, dates, mileage, etc? Did this satisfy dealerships or did they still give you a hard time for future warranty requests?
