I have the Magnaflow Competition Axle back on my 2016 and love the deep deep base sound!

Question .. Has anyone fitted just the axle backs and then gone on to fit an "H" Pipe as well?
I know it's going to be louder with the H pipe
But what I would like to know is ... do you loose any of the deep base tone or does it get even deeper with the H pipe fitted?
Many thanks

H pipe will give you a even deeper exhaust tone

Were glad to hear that you are liking the Competition system! Our mufflers are already tuned to give you the deepest tone possible, so going with an H pipe may change the tone slightly, but the biggest difference will be the volume.

Any reason why you only offer an "X" and not an "H" ?

Yes sir! We choose to use X pipes in the majority of our exhaust systems because they provide a superior scavenging effect, which aids in the evacuation of exhaust gasses, resulting in a bigger power gain. The main benefit of the H is a deeper tone, which we achieve through the tuning of our mufflers instead. Compared side by side to an H-pipe exhaust, our catbacks will consistently sound as deep or even deeper using an X, so you really get the best of both worlds with our exhaust!

So.. MagnaFlow You are claiming that using your Competition X pipe cat back will be as deep or even deeper sounding than using your Competition Axle back and an H pipe???

Yes, you should get a comparable deep tone, with the additional power benefits-not to say there's anything wrong with an H pipe. Since you have an axle-back, you are free to choose the option that suits you best!

MagnaFlow ..Do you have any plans to produce an H-pipe or Resonator?

Anyone else have any new thoughts or experiences with this combination? I'm very close to pulling the trigger, but not quite there yet. Thoughts on the Magnaflow Comps with x-pipe are welcome as well.

It seems a lot of people have embraced the sound of the 2005+ Mustangs and have gone with exhausts with quite a bit of rasp. But I really dig the deep, smooth rumble of the Magnaflows (at least from what I've heard on YouTube videos). The CJ Pony Parts video on this combo sold it pretty well, when he raved about how good it sounded at idle (for some reason, the idle sound is important to me) and that it had a unique sound unlike any other system (although I suppose whether unique is good or bad is up for interpretation).

Does anyone know where this system slots as far as loudness goes? Everyone says the Roush with no resonator is ridiculously loud and I'm not looking for something that loud. However, I'm coming from Borla Stingers with longtubes on my 06, and that is hardly a quiet system.

It sounds like drone is a potential concern with this system, but I am hoping for the best. My current setup has some drone that I find acceptable, so as long as it isn't worse, I can probably live with it. If the drone is too much, it sounds like going to an x-pipe instead might help and, as a last resort, the J-pipe option sounds like it might be worth exploring, or putting the resonator back on. I've also seen the manufacturer claim the drone goes away after 500-1000 miles, but we will see...

Lastly, anyone in the Minneapolis area with the Magnaflow Comps that would be willing to let me listen to it? Would also be interested in the Roush system with resonators since that's another one I've considered.

Anyway, consider this my last attempt to get someone to talk me in to or out of this particular system before I submit an order. Thanks in advance for any help!

I had the competition axleback with an x pipe resonator delete. It did have a low rumble at idle and till about 4000rpm where it did go to rasp which is the nature of the coyote motor. It did drone which I solved by adding j pipes. However, once I did my cat deletes the exhaust became very tinny and raspy, possibly due to the x pipe I had in place instead of their full catback idk. But the drone came back and I didn't feel like having the length re adjusted so I got a new exhaust. If you do go with magnaflow I suggest the h pipe for sure

I'm using these with the resonator still in place.
I don't think I'd want the system to be any louder.
Can be a little droning under the right conditions but I tend to drive around it.
I don't think it'd pair well with an auto, or at least, that's my opinion.
I love the sound. It's deep and burbly with just the right sounds on decel.
All in all, a good bit of kit for sure.
