Got my letter yesterday. I already went to the two-day course that put us onto the Roval at Charlotte on day 2. The one day Track Attack won't do that but it's still a great day of driving in ways we can't do on the street -- and with someone else's tires! I'm definitely going.

Wrote too soon. I just saw they do offer the second day! I'm in! It was awesome in the modified 2015s. I can't wait to do it with the Mach 1!

I did the GT350 track attack in Charlotte last year. They had classrooms in the morning and toe heel etc. afternoon was three sessions of lead follow. Most groups were set up with one instructor and three students. The instructor would go as fast as you would push them. If you had a slow car in the first session they would move people around to different groups. They did not allow us to pass at all except at the end of each lap when we changed the order up. That way each person got to be behind the instructor for at least one lap each session. Reason this was important was because you could push the car harder behind the instructor. Some students i was behind would brake too soon which caused a slinky effect. They may have changed it since last July but there was no solo laps back then In the one day track attack.
I really want to do this, but I am afraid of making a mistake or going too slow and screwing it up for everyone else. In your experience, anything to be concerned about? Seems like a really cool experience and something that I just need to do!

No way you can miss out on this! If you think you’re going too slow just push the accelerator to the floor. Problem solved

I would not be concerned at all with it. I had my sister come with me as a guest driver. She didn’t get over 90, she ended up with her own instructor for the two other sessions. So point is after the first session they reshuffle the groups based on performance and ability. The instructors are top notch.

Wow...USPS informed delivery shows that my Mach 1 track attack letter is coming today. I did not expect this. There does not seem to be a schedule yet - I am hoping I can line this up back to back with the GT500 track attack!

The best thing you can do for yourself is go and get the professional instruction. Thousands in parts or spent on the hot rodded version of a car is of little value compared to pro track instruction. It made me a way better driver, and faster on the track. some of things you will learn are applicable to daily driving too. Do yourself a favor, you ponied up for this car, go and get the most out of it! At the very least your will gain confidence in your ability and the machine, and you will have fun. No police to have to worry about!

I'm convinced that without the in car coaching I received I would not have podiumed at the amateur events I have competed in. I'm no pro, but guys were asking me how I was beating them around track in my stock car while theirs was modified, including wider tires. All down to the instruction I received, simple as that.

I wish I could like this post twice.

Every mod put into these cars will be useless if/when someone sells their car. Upgrading the driver will carry across every vehicle someone will own and will never go away.

The instruction you get at the track attack will be a great starting point. There's nothing to be worried about. There will be people of varying skill levels and the instructors know that. I wouldn't miss it if I were you.

Is anyone planning on taking what you learn to the Tail of the Dragon near Pigeon Forge on your travels back home, if it's somewhat near your route? i'll travel right through there to get to/from Charlotte.

The website didn’t have a date. Unless I missed it. Trail of the Dragon not as fun with an F150. Which may be my daily until like November.

maybe, but I don't think my 86 bronco or f-250 depending on what I take will really shine doing it.....

If an F150 isn't fun on tail of the dragon, you weren't paying attention to the instructor when he covered understeer ;) just kidding. i'm planning on taking my mach 1 on the road trip to track attack.

Not sure that route will work for me heading back to the DC area after the course. It was tough enough after the two-days the last time. Thank goodness for open roads with large gaps -- mile or more -- between other cars. (I'm very mindful not to be "that Mustang" who goes by so quickly it scares other drivers.)

Looks like an amazing experience. Living less than 2 hours away from both Laguna Seca and Sonoma Raceway, it would be hard to not just sign up for a local full day class at one of those locations...which I've already been discussing with my buddy who has a PP1. He's ready to go. Not free, but taking into account time invested, travel and lodging costs...I'm probably in the same ballbark.
