I will be adding exhaust to the M1 once I move. My question is has anybody regardless of what exhaust they put on their car from Borla to Corsa to any brand somehow retained the M1 tips? I wanna get a louder exhaust but I wanna keep the stock looking rear end by keeping the great looking tips. If anybody has just let me know and if not maybe I’ll try myself when I get there.

It is the great dilemma :) Nobody I know has.. All I know have usually done headers and/or resonator delete and leave the rest alone. I too don't want to Eff with perfection so I elected to leave mine stock too minus the resonator delete...

Save your money and just have the resonator replaced with either an H-Pipe or X-Pipe. Easy to do and really enhances the stock exhaust without becoming too loud.

I thought about that which is still an option. But I want to be as loud as hell without headers. I’m thinking Borla Atak but I would love to keep the tips. Once I get there I’ve got a couple of shops already earmarked to talk to.

If you want volume and do the resonator delete, get an H pipe, not an X. I started with an X and it was raspy but also quiet at certain RPM's. The H is definitely louder than stock.

That sounds fantastic. That pretty much sells it then. I know somebody mentioned it earlier as well. I see you have the summit H pipe in your description. I’m assuming that was cheaper than some of the others? I’m assuming they’re all about the same?

Another to consider is the Borla Switch fire. I really like it. Kinda unique, like an X and H pipe had a baby. It is pricey though...

That was a normal mode cold start. It's pretty loud in Track mode. I'm sure headers are louder but this is good for me, I'm old LOL.

Yep Summit H, it was toward the lower end of the price range. I'd assume they're all about the same as far as sound and performance goes, hard to imagine how different they could possibly be.

I actually watched some videos on the Switchfire as well as seeing some reviews on 6G here. I don’t think it’s loud enough for me. As I just read @skinnyb said that was just normal mode on his video and I drive in track all day long so this would be great for me.

I personally am biased to what I’ve done but for my M1 I got Corsa double H pipe res delete and X-Force catted LTH. Love being able to keep the factory valves and gives it a unique sound with not the basic raspy exhaust some people have.

Yeah it brought up the volume maybe 30 percent from stock. For me that was enough...

Here is a great video that compares the Steeda X and H pipes directly in each of the different exhaust modes. The sounds are pretty similar regardless of what brand you buy. (67) 2021 Mach 1: X-Pipe vs H-Pipe Resonator Delete Exhaust Sounds - YouTube . I did the H-Pipe install by myself in my garage using jack stands, basic hand tools and a reciprocating saw. I'm a big fan of removing the exhaust and doing the cuts off the car. If you look in the attached photo, the secret to my success was using a furniture dolly and a cardboard box to catch the exhaust when I pulled it free from the car, then I just wheeled the whole thing out to the driveway where I carefully made the cuts, then reinstalled everything in pieces on to the car.

Perfect. I drive in track mode most of the time and that’s what I’m looking for. Thanks for all the input guys.

Sorry to go back to this but you wouldn’t happen to have what it sounds like in track mode would you?
