So did they give us the leftover 350 subframes?

That's always been my understanding. I know for a fact they are not the GT versions.

Whether or not the GT350 and GT500 are different, I have no idea.

One day, someone will realize how special these cars are.

Front sub-frame is what all of the suspension bolts to, the steering rack, and the engine mounts to.

Rear subframe supports the rear differential, rear suspension.

Since these cars are unibody, sub-frame assemblies were developed to mount all of this stuff to. Any unibody vehicle has subframes, since the vehicle itself doesn't have a traditional frame capable of supporting the weight, torque etc. of all the drivetrain and suspension stuff
Was S197 unibody? They made it a point on the rollout of S550 that it got true subframes versus just crossmembers that S197 used in order to stiffen up the chassis.

Agree. Ford hit a home run with the S550 Mustang, but a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 with the Mach 1. The GT350 is that, but with 2 outs.

The downside is that I have heavily modified pretty much every car I have owned. I see no reason to do much to this car. Maybe the MGW shifter and some vertical links. I have another track day on Sunday and will reconsider mods.

I agree. The only thing I need to modify is the driver.

I did the Steeda rear sub-frame braces and noticed a big improvement in traction and acceleration through the corner. Then recently, 2 years later I did the Steeda front 2-piece brace and I can also notice this improvement.
Easy installs too

The subframe itself is just the bare metal subframe plus the busings and any factory bushing isolators/supports for thr diff and subframe to body connections. You’d still have a big soft rear lower control arm. The toe link bearings are not hard to add, and the car wouldnt have the GT350 or GT500 spindles unless its also running the brakes (which it doesnt), so its not the entire subframe assembly including all off the control arms and what.

anyway thats how I interpret that.

Add some bushing supports to the diff and cradle and add a pair of toe links and you can bring an S550 IRS up to that spec. Add a RLCA bearing and you’re past it.

the Mach 1 HP package is a good car but lets not put it on a pedistal. The GT350s are more special IMHO and especially the Rs due to more lightweight parts in the chassis, and better brakes. (Not even talking about the motor)

They're a only a different part number because the bushings & bushing supports are different and those come as one assembly. Next time you're under one, take a camera and a tape measure with you.

Neither the front NOR rear subframes on magnaride and non magnaride cars are not different widths (and the Mach1 is just a magnaride GT as far as the suspension geometry goes).

Any and all width changes only come down to the wheel offsets and alignment. Same knuckles, same control arms as the other non-GT350 mustangs. Same shock attachment points... Don't let a little plastic trim on the fenders fool you.

The shelbys have different front knuckles and control arms (due to the knuckles) but that's to correct geometry for lowering. The Shelby fenders are wider to accommodate wider front wheel offsets only, not because the track width at the hub is different.

Yeah we definitely don’t need those Mach guys getting too full of themselves 😂 reminds me of the great “why the Mach 1 is a rip off” thread of 2021 😂. Good times. We’re all aware that we need to speak in hushed tones and genuflect if we discuss the 350. I know, quit being so sensitive… I just get triggered easy from having to hear about it over and over.
