First; not now or have I ever claimed to be an expert driver, but I have put a lot of miles and hard driving miles on the cars I dove in my profession. I also attended several driving classes that included pursuit driving. They even sent me to a driving instructor's class which was mostly class room. That was more than 2 decades ago so things may have changed, so don't beat me up over my point.
Back then manufacturers limited the maximum speed a car could go with the computer control, and the maximum speed was based off of the speed rating of the tires that came on the car. The tire speed rating was based on the temperature and time a tire could stand before it might fail. When you reached that speed the car wouldn't go any faster.
My last beat car was a 92 Crown Vic. Before It was broke in I got involved in a chase. The car accelerated like a pissed off pitbull until it got to 115 and then it just stopped going any faster.
I'm just assuming that if Ford built a car that would go 250 mph on they're test track they would find someway of announcing that fact, but if you buy the production version of that same car, it's only going to as fast as the tires are rated.
Back in my day you could get chips to go faster. Now you get tunes.

I was talking about the max speed some guy recorded when driving on German highway. You are posting a speed from some thread about GT500 with a pic from TrackAddict from some track.
Besides I am pretty sure that unmodded Mach 1 with manual and EU LSD cannot drive at that speed (see my reasoning and calculation on previous page).

Correct, and the reason for why I mentioned the GT500 speed is it’s beyond the supposed electronic limiter. So, either Ford’s electronic limiter is BS or it’s set higher than they indicate. So, the Mach may be capable of higher speeds than what Ford has posted (and it may not be due to gearing). That’s all I’m saying, not saying the Mach can go as fast as the GT500 stock for stock

Alright. There might an additional electronic limiter set up for max speed in Mach 1 (Ford even claims that in the Tech. spec someone posted here as well).

What I was explaining in my previous post was that Mach 1 the way it is set up, is pretty much limited by the redline. The 6th gear does not pull enough to overcome the drag (so the car starts slowing down at this gear and speed). The 5th gear has enough pull, but when hitting redline with the gears and the tires the speed is limited as well. Ironically your best shot at the max speed is with non-HP (bigger tires) and non-US (3.55 LSD) model and you still get limited around ~272 km/h (169 mph).

My assumption (though I did not try it) is that "electronically limited" by Ford may as well mean limited by redline and I know it is limited that way, because I hit the redline several times. And I suspect it may be even less than 7500 RPM.

Manual trans probably limited to 155 or so by rpm. Car won't pull 6th gear, too tall.
At the top of 5th gear, hit 159 MPH on the dyno. Obviously, I have a few extra ponies than stock, but I have no doubt it would do 200 at the top of 6th if I had the room and the balls to do it.

Its the balls that you need in my opinion, there are spaces but at 150mph you are traveling at 220 feet per second and even with the best brakes and a car that seems to be in top condition it does not take much to end up dead at that speed.

My mach 1 was limited at 260km/h or around 161mph on the speedo. So approximately 250km/h or 155mp/h on the gps.

After removing the top speed limiter I managed to do 287km/h or 178mp/h. But there was some more left! I made a video of it.

I believe there’s a forum member that was close to 190mph at Daytona in his GT500 CFTP (it’s stock too if I recall). So either that limiter didn’t kick in or Ford is full of BS. Either way, his car went beyond the supposed limiter.
Does the limiter work in track mode? I would think maybe it’s disabled in that drive mode.

Good question, not really sure. Track mode does disable a few things I believe but I don’t know if the speed limiter is one of them

I haven’t attempted it but there’s a video of a euro spec M1 doing 274kph or 170mph on the autobahn. In the video he’s got track mode active on the dash.
