I agree with you there. I run a Collision Repair shop and as much as I would love to share stuff I see and deal with in regards to customers and insurance companies. Integrity is a thing though for me.

even charging extra is likely not worth the hassle. Some people really are just stupid and need kicked to the curb.
But Lund's tuning bonafides is very much up for debate as I see it.

It's really not that hard, just be honest with the customer from the start.
No real hassle for the tuner. It is a hassle for the customer. I would want several logs per day for a few weeks. Then I'd put the data into a spread sheet and have it spit out a period table. If it still has hiccups I'd tell the customer to log several more weeks. So it's 6 weeks later and I have an initial tune and 2 revisions. Not hard for me.
And you set expectations from the start by saying it may never be stock like, but can be mostly good. Treat it like steeda does and call it a race only piece.

You only get so much time/emails/etc per customer with that model. support is what's expensive
They should just bill by the hour
Next time I have a plumber put in a sink I'm going to tell him I want to use this slighty larger pipe, have it curve out one way, switch out the handles with ones I bought on ebay but the screws are different...and get charged extra

Not the same. This is software.
If I remember correctly Lund charges 250 extra for a GT350 Intake manifold swap on a gen 2. All that is required is changing the manifold volume and raising the rev limiter............
They are just lazy and want easy money.

Exactly. Technically you don't have to do sweet FA to the tune to run a GT 350 intake manifold.

The customer was asking him to do so, live on his show. He wasn't like "you guys gotta see this shit..." and pulled up a random ticket. He wasn't even the one helping the guy originally.

See that's the thing. I am not really saying in that case that Alex really did right or wrong. I agree that the guy Lund was dealing with needs a education for sure. My stance is there is perception and reality. The reality might have been the customer wanted this hashed out live but the perception with this looks like many people saw it as if you are a customer this might be what happens to you. That's why with me I would choose not to play in that realm. However Alex does not misrepresent.. I mean one of his shows is "talking shit" He tells people right from the start that's what is.. He is great at what he does and even though I don't agree with his style or stance 100% of the time 1) It is a free show to enjoy or not and 2) I am grateful for a lot of the free info he has given. Saved me time and money.
All I really am saying is if you take a newb, be patient and help them you have a customer for life. You have to remember not to hammer them for dumb questions. If you do they move on somewhere else. All your left with is the I know everything people that wont listen (techs and shops). I have a feeling that is the people that makes Alex and Lund for that matter so irritated. Nothing worse than a Askhole that asks a question and does the opposite of what you said anyways. I understand the frustrations... Just not the tactics.

Sure, he coulda or shouda said, that CAI needs a 100% custom tune, call the shop and we will talk. Or he could have said we don't tune for that intake and been done with it.
This shit from Lund has been going on since at least 2012. I have no idea why they are still in business. I guess mustang owners like to be shit on.
