Thanks guys... got mine directly from Lund. No questions about my set up or needs... I guess I figured they would take care of that after I received the device and did some logging... but like I said, there are no instructions on how to even begin the whole process.

I was under the impression that you neded to do so logging or performance runs, send thos to lund so they could se how your vehicle was running then send you back a custom tune...
I thought Lund didn't sell the tuning devices directly to the public and you had to get it from a vendor? I got my tune-only directly from Lund and ordered from their website which has all the info and instructions to do so.

So how did you order the ngauge directly from Lund exactly?

They had it online briefly before they made the exclusive deal with Lethal so I believe they are honoring those orders. Additionally, I inquired about it long ago when I had to go with the Hyperbox and was able to purchase direct from Lund.

I'm a little disappointed that there is a vendor lockout.

I would have liked to have it for the data logging in a couple weeks but I'll be waiting for Team beefcake to have them available.

I'm with you... But I think I read somewhere that the part is like 1000. Bucks.
I actually looked at this a little today and it showed the actual trim piece (no gauges) for about $200. However, if you did end up buying the trim piece with three A/C vents to swap into a PP car you'd have to replace all the other dash pieces too. That "turned aluminum" finish on the PP cars isn't available (or wasn't for 2015 MY) on anything but the PP cars...which all have the two gauges. I don't think they made the trim piece with three AC vents on the other cars in the turned aluminum finish, they are all brushed.

I was definitely wanting to swap the trim piece and lose the two factory gauges in order to place the nGauge there, but not worth losing that finish to me and also the cost/hassle of replacing the other dash pieces to match the brushed finish.

Be patient and be thankful you aren't in the boat some of us are that traded the SCT w/bad tunes for Hyperbox w/good tunes. I'm out the $400 for the SCT, have a Hyperbox that can't be resold, and still had to pay full price for the nGage.

Being early to the party isn't always best. lol

This may be a dumb question. Why can't the hyperbox be resold?

There's not a way (at least not by end user) to unmarry it from the car.

So even loading the stock tune back to your car and resetting the device has no effect on divorcing it? Wow....

I almost bought one of those.

To load tunes on it, you hook it to your computer an use their software to download from their server and write to the device. It's not like downloadind a file and copying it over.

It does it's basic job and that's it. If I weren't going nitrous with a need to datalog I'd keep using it and skip the nGauge.

To be doubly sure, I've sent an inquiry to Lund for final word on resale.

Did you just purchase the device by itself, or did you buy a tune with it? If you bought a tune with it, you would have had to fill out a digital form with all pertinent information (specifically your mods and what octane fuel you have available). Lethal would have passed this info on to Lund, who would have made a tune for your mods.

If you didn't purchase the tune through Lethal, you can contact Lund directly and have them set up a tune based on your needs.

Also, you haven't really said much about your car. Did you have an SCT X4 with a tune on it before? Does your ECU have the stock settings on it? Etc.

To pull or clear codes, after you have plugged the nGauge into the OBDII, put your car into accessory mode (turn on your electronics, but don't start the motor). Your nGauge will boot up into it's gauge mode, giving you four blank quadrants because you haven't told it what to monitor yet. Disregard this for now. Tap on the screen and hit the exit button. You will be brought to the menu. Hit the onscreen button that says Diagnostic. From here you will see an option to read codes and clear them. It will also have an option for making a copy of your stock tune.

To load tunes, pull the microSD card out of the device and plug it into a Windows or OS X device (you will need an SD card reader). Once plugged in, it will behave just like any thumb drive. You will have access to the nGauge file system. The folders are clearly marked, so you will know where to drop your custom tunes, and you will know where your stock tune is stored.

If you don't have an SD card reader, leave the microSD card in the nGauge and plug the nGauge up to your Windows or OS X device via USB cable. After the device boots up, hit the Diagnostic key and go to your Activate USB SD button. Hit that, and now your nGauge will behave like an SD card reader.

As for uploading tunes to your vehicle.... there is a button that says tuning. Hit that and follow the instructions. I posted a video in this forum of me playing around with the device in my car. I know I at least explain the file system and how to load tunes and update the firmware, and even where to get it.

If you have any questions shoot me a PM. I usually work the graveyard shift on base, but I'm off tonight so I'll be up until about 6AM CST.

Fantastic... I just loaded my new tune on the device and will be moving to the car shortly. I need to copy my OEM file and I am off and running hopefully.

Lund is very quick... thanks

Final verdict:

Nope. Not unless Hypertech does it for a fee, but I don't believe they do. It's married to Lund Racing only also. Cannot be switched to other vendors.

Loaded my tune... interesting.

The nGauge is very very easy to use. Well laid out and intuitive, though I don't think I will use it in Gauge mode to be honest.

Lund tune... that is the interesting part. I wanted to do the comparison stock for stock because doing a comparison stock against intake and exhaust really isn't a comparison, it's adding in other variables.

Stock for stock there is not a huge night and day difference as tested by the wildly inaccurate buttdyno... but the car DOES rev a bit quicker and it seems a bit more lively in the lower/mid registers of the power band. The upper registers, say above 6000rpms, it seems to run out of steam slightly quicker... I have no idea if this is really true without a graph, but that is the feeling after a single outting. Perhaps Lund made the meat of the tune more aggressive in the mid range of the power band to make it more usable for daily drivers... not sure.

I would love to see what moving around the power band would do for drivability in terms of performance driving.

Seems to pull a bit better after a few days on the top end.

I feel the same about my lund tune as well. However i used a sctx4 and also installed a JLT intake at the same time. Weird.
