From the original pictures, SBD seem to have a nice design on their custom manifold. If SBD can offer some sort of cover to protect "Hotside" part of turbo from water splash, that would be great. You splash cold water on a hot metal, it can weaken it's structure or form.
On the Hellion side, the heat from the turbos will ruin all the rubbers and electrical wires in the engine bay, when you shut the engine and all that heat gets trapped under the hood. A friend of mine who put TT in his Corvette (in the engine bay) had to replace most of his electric lines within six months, due to heat from TT.

I love turbos, but you have to deal with getting ride of the heat and keeping the Turbos cool.
Hellion has their heatwraps, so that has to give a decent amount of heat dissipation right? I'm debating between the boostworks 850 kit or a hellion kit right now.(maybe wait for the SBD kit)

Wait for SBD to release before pulling the plug. Chris has done a great detailed job on that kit. With turbo, everything has to be right. You're dealing with a lot of pressure, heat and movements. The smallest weak link can cause you nightmare. For example, most companies use cheaply made intercoolers from China that begin to leak after sometime and it's impossible to see where it's coming from. A well quality intercooler is the key in the kit. The thickness of the tube are important. A weak exhaust manifold will crack due to heat and weight of turbo in several months.
Trust me, I've been through these. You see see one kit sold for $6000 and another for $12,000 and they both do the job (initially), but how long will they last, is the key.

You just have to properly protect everything exposed to it. The Hellion kit comes with heat wrap for wires etc. But I agree... its a double edged sword.... water for low mount, and heat for high mount. Best thing would be to go low mount and not drive in the rain. :D

I am up there with the biggest turbo fans around. Having owned and built twin turbo and single turbo setups for cars, trucks, atv's and motorcycles. That said any wires or hoses around get crispy even with turbo blankets. There is so much added hot plumbing running through the engine compartment that under hood temps get hot. No two ways about it. I would much prefer going turbos on my brand new semi daily (good weather) mustang, but I think I'm going supercharger this time around to avoid the heat. A project car is getting turbos for sure, but I feel bad melting everything in my new car. lol

Well said. It's the daily driver that I was talking about. You drive it, park it and go to work and for hours that massive heat is still under the hood destroying all the rubbers and electric wires. In less than a year, you'll see it.

Best to go low and also protect the turbo from water.

There was another vendor that designed a nice looking TT, for Corvettes running low and he also provided a "U" shape aluminum box that protected the turbos from water splash and also heat radiation to protect tranny.

Hopefully SBD is also providing such protection that protects the turbo & Tranny.

I remember reading somewhere that the comp oil-less turbo uses a military grade ball bearing grease. Can't find the post I saw it in though.

I helped a buddy of mine install this kit. (Assuming your talking about the limitless kit). Install wasn't bad at all. Kit comes with no instructions. He kept texting and emailing the guy when we ran into things he wasn't sure of. It ties into the factory cooling system so that's how it gets cooled. Yes it's a grease fitting for its oil. Me personally I thought it was a little high priced for what you were getting. He hasn't put it on the dyno so couldn't tell you what it's putting down but he says it feels strong.

I'd also be concerned with where the filters are mounted sucking in water although they say it's ok where they are at.

This kit could be installed in a day, day and a half easy. Maybe less if it had instructions. I liked the simplicity of the kit. It took me weeks to put my kit on and we threw this thing on in a fraction of the time.

As for quality........ Wasn't a fan of the cold side piping and couplings. Intercooler appeared of decent quality.

Yes i am, just curious about the quality of the kit boosted works is selling a similar kit with the same turbos for an 895 upgrade. Lpf is about 2k cheaper.

Curious why they haven't bothered with a write up or even joined the forums

He's not a good business guy. He's very young and full off himself. If you want a better product and a company that will support you go see Travis at boostworks!

Also, from the lpf website I don't see any provisions for fueling or tuning. So while the "base price" may be 2k lower, it looks like you're not getting the handheld, lifetime tuning support, or BAP. Also as sonic was saying, Travis from Boost Works is highly visible on this forum and answers tons of questions. What other turbo shop for these cars has been this active in the S550 community? At the end of the day, I don't think it's really cheaper.

I tried to contact LPF 3 different times and it always went to voicemail what a joke, if you are in business you answer your phone. This was all prior to the Boost Works kit coming out.

I am on the forum now. I also only use email for contact I don't use the pone as I am in the shop most of the time. when I receive a email I respond in a fairly short time frame.
I also tuning with the kits as most every kit by me has been tuned by me with great results and nearly every s550 with the kit runs high to low 9s.
