My R will shift into reverse like normal, but as I release the clutch the shifter spits out and grinds gears. It does this if I try to hold the shifter in reverse too, even though it seems to have engaged and stays in reverse until I release the clutch.

I don’t think this is the reverse lockout shifter issue that is common on mustangs, but something else. Have to wait 4 weeks to get into dealer transmission dept, so curious if anyone has any thoughts? 10.5k miles.

In the mean time, just gotta be careful where I park it!

Mine is almost finished with being repaired for this.... my lock out broke and I ground into reverse when it broke and my theory was whatever damage was done that once grew to having zero reverse. Worked fine after lockout was fixed, then required pressure to keep it from popping out, then failed completely.

sorry to hear!
So what’s the fix? I’ve not had a lockout issue

Rebuilding transmission
Crap. How long did that take (once the transmission dept actually started).

Did you get new clutch/flywheel included under warranty replacement/rebuild?

I doubt they would replace clutch/flywheel for this, but i didn't ask. My timeline is prob longer than normal, the dealer is a client so i told them i was flexible on the timeline. I was told i'd likely get it back this week, but not certain yet. I'll be taking my '68 to friday's track day anyway so not a huge deal.
