Ive had my upstream sensors die 3-4 times when running e85.. I have stock headers and cats so its not some offbrand longtubes with bad angles or anything. Since the f150's are rated for flexfuel and they have a 5.0, are the upstream o2 compatible with 2018+ mustangs? Are the o2 sensors different and more e85 tolerant?

Also anyone know if aftermarket o2 sensors handle e85 better than the OEM? I see there are a few options, one is from encore for mustangs :

https://www.autozone.com/emission-c...n-sensor-os-d20004/484801_1160757_18264_97999

and an aftermarket option for f150's from Oreilleys NXT that appear to have the same connector

https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...rd/f-150?q=oxygen/air-fuel+ratio+sensor&pos=1

The motorcraft part number for the f150 upstream sensors is different than the mustangs, but only barely different. The plugs look the same, the only major difference appears to be the wire length

The mustangs part number is JR3z-9f472-B and the F150's is JL3Z-9F472-B

Anyone tried using the F150 sensor with luck on mustangs since the F150 are flex fuel from the factory?

I am wanting to keep running e85 but I dont want to keep replacing upstream sensors every ~8k miles, so I am either going to switch to 93 octane permanently or hopefully someone knows of a solution before I put another OEM motorcraft mustang sensor back in. Thanks if anyone can provide any suggestions.

I would stick with OEM sensors. It's going to come down to the position of the bungs on the connection pipes. The E85 compatible bungs are on an angle.

Damn, 3-4 O2 sensors and Maf sensors in how many miles? I have been running E85 straight for over 11,000 miles no issues.

I have 28500 miles maybe 24000 on mostly e85. I ran a burble tune for a while which may have contributed, but the sensor seemed to die like a couple months after going back on the non-burble tune, so its hard to tell.

I had attributed my previous 02 sensor problems to other problems I was having at the time (vct solenoids were replaced once, I had an electrical issue that was causing MAF sensor codes once but that was my fault I believe my electric cutouts were causing problems)

Im getting p0030 and p2237 codes for heater control unit bank 1 sensor 1, and positive current control circuit/open bank 1 sensor 1.

I guess I may try e85 again and never run a burble tune this time and see if the sensor dies again. if it dies again without running that tune I guess ill just go back to 93.

This is one place where stock is good. Mine have given me no reason to worry. They are angled via Kooks LTs.

The nxt brand is pretty good imo. But you definitely got other issues causing the failures.

Been running E85 for a long time now without angled O2 sensors and they're fine. Stock sensors.

*EDIT one of the sensors went bad after about 10k miles =/*

Just FYI I went through like 6 OEM o2 sensors having them die every like 3-4 months, one side then the next.

I got tired of that and wanted to try something different so I switched to the NTK 27079's for both upstream sensors.

Ive had no problems after switching to these for the last 5 months running solely e85, even after putting a whipple on and now making 770+ rwhp. These sensors work perfect and seem to be better built or more durable than OEM mustang upstream O2 sensors. Car runs great and tuned great. They are for f150 which are flex fuel but they work perfect on 5.0 mustangs at least 2018+ and the NTK27079 work on both sides upstream with OEM manifolds no extensions needed.

I have had the best luck with the Denso brand upstream O2. It is also the cheapest (15-17) on RockAuto lol.
