Looking for tires with hard sidewall

So I put a pair of Conti DSW06 on the rear to replace the worn P Zeros that came with the car. Front still has the P Zeros with some tread. I noticed that when I did some test swerving the tail end felt sluggish. The car didn't feel as precise and planted as when I had the P Zeros on back.

Going to take them back and maybe just get 4 new P Zeros. Downside is the P Zeros wear out kinda fast.

Looking for a reliable tire with a hard sidewall that will keep the car stiffer in turns and swerves. Thoughts?

I think that is the downside of the all weather tire group. You could go with a different summer tire PZero is like a 220 rating which is about a low as you can go, if you change most of the other summer tires are 300-340 so you will have a longer life.

Keep in mind any new tire will feel squishy compared to an older (bald) tire or a new but shaved tire simply due to fresh tall tread block squirm.

Pzeros arent all that stiff (according to me) but they could be a lot worse. Im still adjusting to the MPSS tires.

Yea I wondered if it was just the tread height causing the softness in response. I just know it doesn't feel like it did with the new P Zeros.
I also notice the traction control kicks in on some curves. Never had that on just a curve with the P Zeros.

Well, you're comparing a winter / all-season tire to a max performance summer tire. If you didn't have to give up some warm weather dry grip to get the all-season performance, we'd all be running A/S tires.

I've only tried 3 or so tire types so far with the Mustang, so I can't really speak to a lot of the options. When I was shopping, I considered the Bridgestone RE11, RE71R, and Potenza S-04 Pole Position, Hankook R-S3v2, and the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

The Conti ExtremeContact DW review said they have a softer sidewall, so that one got written off. I would only expect the DWS to be softer, if anything.

Continental Tires tend to have a softer sidewall versus other brands but seem to grip only slightly less compared to the competition. I think their tires are more focused on real world use since they tend to be more comfortable, have higher tread wear ratings and perform better in wet conditions.

I'm not tracking my car so I would gladly sacrifice some grip for a more comfortable and bad weather handling tire that can run a little longer between sets. I also think their more flexible sidewall is why they tend to be the lightest performance tires you can find by a significant margin. look at their weights compared to other brands on tire rack, always 2 to 5 pounds lighter.

I run the ExtremeContact DW summer tire (F:255/40, R:285/35) and can definitely feel some flex when hitting a turn aggressively but I can feel the tires/car snap back into place upon exit without any drama. I'm completely happy with them.

In the end I chose to sacrifice maximum grip with a tire that's easier to live with.

The last time I liked the response of a set of tires was the stock tires on my RX-8 R3. Bridgestone Potenza re050a. They are still very soft and wear very quickly.
Not all high performance/extreme summer tires have stiff sidewalls I tried two sets of Hankook V12 EVO and EVO2, they were both soft and the EVO2 had flat spotting issues.

MPSS have some stiff sidewall if not mistaken.

I'm having my Continental DWS06 replaced after 1100 miles with Michelin Super Sports.
Did not feel confident in the corners.

MPSS IMO. Besides the incredible performance, they get good tread life too.

Typical A/S with stiff sidewall: Nitto, Hankook, BF Goodrich + any A/S runflat
Typical Summer with stiff sidewall: Bridgestone, Hankook, Pirelli, Cooper (ish)

Continentals typically do not have hard sidewalls but will outgrip many tires that do. Conti DWS A/S tires are my favorite "actual normal driving" tire ever made by far.

MPSS... mixed bag what people say about the sidewall on those. In the cars I've been in that have MPSS tires, I did not get the feeling that it had "stiff" sidewalls but more along the lines of "firm and dampened"... make sense? Like it wasn't rolling over itself per say (though I've heard people complain about that) but it wasn't a rock hard tire.

Above is just from my own research... could be totally incorrect.

I have Cooper tires. I find them to be totally fine and not a single issue with sidewall.
