Has anyone faced this decision before? If I go with the ecoboost I will be tuning it and getting inter cooler and intake and it would have leather seats heated cooled better stereo etc....but that v8 is so tempting ....anyone with base can you comment on the cloth seats and if it's worth it to go with the ecoboost for the better interior .... Thanks

That's tough! I like the heated and especially the cooled seats on the premium but also like the v8. That being said, the turbo 4 is no slouch. If it's my DD, I would probably go for the ecoboost.

GT. The answer is always GT. It's just a superior performance car, plain and simple. The EB's are cool and powerful for what they are, but they're still a 4 cylinder mustang. The interior of a base GT is very comfortable and I get comments about it every time someone gets in the passenger seat. If you can pony up enough, go for the performance pack (and remember the PP for the EB isn't the same as for the GT). Brakes are enormous. Ride is tight. Tires and wheels are huge. And those black wheels...

If interior is a huge deal for you, then I guess go for the EB, but personally I don't get why anyone buys a sportscar and doesn't put performance at the top of the list, unless they're just a purely 4 cylinder enthusiast.

That said..congrats on whatever you pick and enjoy it!

Don't make the mistake I did. I had a loaded eco and took a hit to get the V8. You'll get over the creature comforts as soon as you start the car up. Trust me.

I DD my GT.

And honestly, I like the cloth seats more than the leather seats. Just feel more comfortable. Ford leather is NOT good leather.

Yeah, tough call. I didn't have that choice when I got my gt a couple years ago. The eco is what got we interested in upgrading to a new model several months ago. I could get the turbo premium model and have money left for mods and also get better gas mileage. But the more I researched it, it sounds like a lot of problems with the motors and many blowing up. I would have voided the warranty by getting a tune and I/H and all that so I started looking at gt's again. But the more I thought about it, why not pay a little extra and get the leather seats, better stereo, ect. too. It would only be about 50-60 more a month. I'm still looking though, trying to find the best deal I can to stay within budget. It hasn't been easy, but I'll eventually find something I will be satisfied with.

NOT a tough call. GT base, easy. You already plan on spending money to upgrade it, so why not put that toward the GT instead of the ECO? The cloth interior is great, seats are comfy. I went GT base w/PP and I couldn't be happier. Zero regrets.

I see so many ECO owners who are trading in for GT's. Go ahead, do a search...see for yourself. If you're already questioning it, you'll definitely have regrets.

Base GT. The base model cars are pretty loaded, these days. Yeah, yeah, the Premium has leather (cheap-ish to add later if you REALLY want it), and some electronic doodads, but the doodads don't outweigh the sound of the Coyote.

Learn from me, who had both. Always buy the best motor you can. The rest is just details.

Get the GT.

I have a base GT now, and my only complaints are that the base radio is too small (not the end of the world since the aftermarket audio world has some options) and that I wish my seats were leather (I can always buy seat covers).

You can't beat the power and sound of the 5.0!

This ^

The wife and I were in a similar spot about a month ago when looking at Explorers. The way we looked at it was if we are going to spend this much on a vehicle it is going to have everything we really want. And we found it, almost (its missing the 20" chrome wheels but those can always be added down the road) Do not settle for something if it is not what you truly want. I know how hard it can be to wait, but if this is going to be a vehicle you have for a long time, might as well wait it out and make sure it has everything you want.
