I know this has been discussed before, but I've searched the forums and there seems to be no certain answers. Does line lock void warranties? Has anyone taken their car in for warranty work and had issues because it was used? Most of the post I've seen were just speculation.

Only if it's something they can prove caused the "issue"... Those were the words my dealer told me when it comes to any issues if any. With that being said I've read that the line lock is really only to be used at Ford track days but living here in Missouri we don't see those. My dealer also told me if I track my car that I should take off or cover the license plate and cover the vin.

I've heard that about the plates as well. So if you use Line Lock and something breaks, they could hold you accountable for it? Seem's like a dumb move on their part to add standard features which they won't back.

My buddy snapped an axle and Ford paid for it.

I'm afraid to try it, figured I'd wait until I need new tires!

Agreed they should cover since its usage is in the owners manual, the only warning is it will result in excessive tire wear or something of that wording...

I think you're right...but it wouldn't be unprecedented for an automaker to include features that are either outside of warranty or only covered for a limited number of uses. Examples that come to mind are some years of the BMW M3 and Nissan GT-R which each only allow a limited number of launches before the computer cuts you off.

Mitsubishi was famous for combing autocross and SCCA roles and voiding the warrantees of participants even though the competition was legal and well within the image upon which they marketed these cars.

How many of us read the fine print when purchasing? At best, most of us probably just skim it. The excitement of a new hot rod has a way of corrupting our better judgment. :(

I have also been hesitant to use it in fear of it voiding any warranty work. I don't give a shit about my tires. It's other stuff I'm worried about. I had Honda void a TSB for my trans grinding 3rd gear and because I had coilovers they wouldn't help me out smh.

:frusty:

That sucks. There was a TSB! Why did they think your car was unique when it had the same damn failure of some significant population of the production run....did they give you an explanation?

How long ago was this? Aren't there are laws in place that prevent the loss of warranty when the modification is unrelated to the damage?

Okay people please...first off you do know that Ford cannot VOID your warranty right? They can refuse a repair because you did something outside the contract that caused the damage/break. BUT THEY CANNOT VOID YOUR WHOLE WARRANTY!!!!!

Same goes for line lock - its a feature on the damn car, what makes you think it would be a cause for warranty issues? That's like saying "If I turn my radio up too high will that void my warranty? :headbonk::frusty::headbonk::frusty:

When it comes to burnouts and line locks, if you chicken out you'll be more rough on it than if you just put some sauce behind it and give 'er hell. Smooth transition fast and crisp transition.

Seems like you're singling me out by quoting me. I'm not the OP. I was stating my experience with another car and how Honda corporate gave me an issue for something unrelated. I can't speak for OP but I have yet to see anyone break anything or damage anything other than tires and have the dealer give them a hard time. There's only speculation from people who assume nothing will happen.
