can you elaborate a bit? are all 3 cars experienced the same thing?
and the 4th car I assume it was your track pack, and it was okay?

at this rate I may not take my tech to track this year, what is the point if it can't do 15mins?

So there were 4 of us at the track tonight and unfortunately 3 went into limp mode... 2 Techs and 1 base. :(

Almost subject related, but when C&D or R&T that tested a bunch of sports cars at the track, including ACR vs C7Z VS GT350R, both the vette and the mustang came to close to very high temps. It was the comparison where the R won best performance car.
So an R may also have high temp issues, not sure about limp mode though. Still winter, hopefully we see these cars on road courses across the country.
They spoke about engine oil temps around the 280 mark. They did not speak about the transmission having any overheating problems.

Yes all 3... the OP is one of them. And another forum member. All 3 ran in Novice with an Instructor... I highly think it's the elevated Trans temp kicking in reduced power mode. When one of them came in early and told me, I immediately checked his Oil temps and they were low (<220).

The 4th is me obviously. I run in the Advanced group... no issues.
Can you tell us how long it took to go into limp mode? What was the outdoor temperature?
Actually chilly for FL weather... low 50's, breezy at PBIR. Great night to track... it was so crowded though in all groups. We ran from 6pm-10pm so it got colder as the night went on. I'll let them chime in for more details but I believe at least 15 mins on the track... up to about 20 mins or so before reduced power mode. All 3 were unable to go pass 5k rpm's once in that limp mode.

I took 2 of them out as a passenger during one of my sessions in my group for about 15 mins each... I think I got them both nauseous. :headbonk:

My guess part of the problem is the gt350 loses a bunch of airflow over the transmission compared to a 5.0gt. Underhand air is warm, but it's still cooler than the overheat temp of a transmission. Reduced radiator inlet size, large hood vent, and the two fender vents all work to reduce flow to under the car. Splitter and front diffusers also work air away from below the car. The gt also has some basic cast in cooling fins on the bottom while the gt350's doesn't.

Has anyone checked to make sure they didn't overfill the transmission at the factory? I don't know if it's possible to put a cooler equipped cars quantity of fluid into one that lacked it... but it would work well if someone managed that...

A guy on SVTP made the transmission scoop fit after a little trimming of the underbody paneling. Haven't heard much since he got it installed.

Bossing, for our Sebring event, I think you should run the entire Happy Hour session at the end of the day for "research purposes" to see just how long the Track Pack's can run at full song :headbang::D:cheers:

Hey Boss, will the limp mode cars be brought in for diagnosis at the dealership ?

Do you have video of your last night track session ?

so what happens after the car went into limp mode?
do they just sit it out for a bit? let the tranny cool down so the ECU get out of limp mode and then they can go back on track again?

Yes I believe so. All the 3 guys mentioned it. The videos I have is just of mine on the track in a different group... here's one-

Yes... after some cooling down I'd say for approx 30mins max they can go out again for 15-20mins or so of track time before reduced power mode kicks in.

ok that's not that bad then. a typical 3-group track days the wait time will be 30-40mins anyways.

I may bring my generator with me and bring a couple of big floor fans next time. or leaf blower.

Still very disapointing. :(
We know almost for sure that it's all the base/tech cars that will experience limp mode.
