They actually did this? My C7 Z51 overheated just driving down the damn interstate in summer. Granted, Texas does get hot but cruising at 75-80 mph should not overheat any modern car. This is the main reason I sold my C7.
Yes they did. It is relatively cheap too apparently.

I'll just add this to this mix. Our Tech Cars come equipped with a "Track" mode (in addition to a "Sports" Mode and they come with the well-promoted "Track Apps (TM)."
And the "Track" mode specifically says on the screen "For On Track use only."

The Apps include a Lap Timer, Accelerometer and Shift Light.

Exactly what were we Tech owners supposed to use these for?? Except for running track days.

The fact that Ford already addressed/resolved this EXACT issue by installing all coolers on the 2017s just makes me sick to my stomach -- and it's a blatant admission by Ford that hey screwed up.

I'm up for all the organized polite response/approach to Ford -- to have them retrofit cooler and trans on our cars. I also think if they refuse that we Base and Tech owners could have a very good class action against Ford on this. (Yes, I am an attorney, but this is not exactly my area; but I certainly know where to look for the right attorneys for this kind of action -- who would likely take it on contingency).

Peace.

I'm all for this, but how do we make it happen ? This is not my field of expertise.
Perhaps we need to start another thread to see who's interested in getting this known to Ford.

Well, I'm glad they owned up to it. I'm not too disappointed as it was not all that fun to drive. It was definitely fast, but not fun.

Good luck! Im pretty sure that tid bit of info in the owners manual where it states to add coolers for track use might be problematic, but you are the lawyer, not me.

As far as the track apps, its not like you cant track the car, you can and some have already, you might just be limited in terms of total time you have full power. Again, which was covered in the manual.

Yes the 2017 changes are off putting for some, but it is not at all an admission of guilt or wrong doing, prudence might be a better word.

Machines advance over time. To imply a suit in this case is absurd. I knew the features and limitations of the vehicle when I chose it. Of course this is an Mechanical/Electrical Engineers perspective not an attorney's.

Yeah all stock and with Cup2's. I think the 2:18 is on another vid.. his fastest is :18's-:19's and he's trying to hit :17's.
Corvettes are quick. That guy looked like he was loafing and pointing by here and there, and he's running low 20's easily - a stock street mustang is not doing 18's at Sebring. That Vette hit 150 on the back straight with a slushbox!

I hope to find out what an R with slicks and driven in anger will do. Trouble at these speeds is the lack of safety equipment and the large check you will write when you ball up a nice street car . . .

Edit: Regarding coolers, just put them on if you are going to beat on the car. A 2000 R didn't come with coolers but it needed them!

Just my 2 cents...I did not buy mine to primarily track but did want the coolers to have the flexibility in case I wanted to evolve into tracking it. I haven't gone yet so I'll be interested in those with Tech who have and if the problem is consistant. If it is I would love the opportunity to upgrade (willing to pay reasonable $), through Ford, to add a Trans cooler.

Disappointed that I paid $7500 because I wanted a nice stereo and seats, then it came with a decent at best stereo and none of these coolers. Seems like they have addressed these things with '17. Not sure who's call it was in the first place. I'll be pretty angry if it goes into limp mode come me taking it to the track in the spring. They should have advertised that a Tech car is not for track use, instead of advertising it as the most track capable mustang ever (with a big invisible asterisk.)

With the pressure of the new Camaro, and the 1LE package coming out soon I would think Ford would want to steer clear, very clear of any and all bad publicity. This is the new age, millennials and the younger generation are all over these forums and via social media they could have a lot of the positivity and goodwill thrown this cars way tarnished by hundreds of websites and other media outlets running articles on missed expectations and "the most trackable mustang ever" going limp. The competition alone would certainly run it for everything its worth. Ford has had a very very positive few quarters with pretty much everyone raving about the car, driving feet to the dealerships, and generally promoting mustang in a positive light. It just isn't worth it for them to not provide something. I don't know anyone that wouldn't pay for it. If they just would not have gimped the tranny to save a buck it would be a non issue for me. I would have factory cooler on order waiting for delivery / install at the dealer as we speak.

I think the trans has an internal pump that moves the fluid to the outboard cooler. Might need to be a trans swap if done per factory design.

So you are thinking about a class action lawsuit for an issue that happened to one customer, one time?

I think you would have to have this issue duplicated by a dealer or rep from Ford Performance several times before any legal issues could be raised.

Who knows what the specific customer had done to his vehicle outside the warranty.

I am sure this will start a "spirited" discussion, let the name calling begin.

I definitely do NOT agree with any type of legal action approach. I would just like to see a viable solution from Ford Performance for Base/tech owners that intend to track their cars.

Maybe even a supported by Ford aftermarket solution that won't void your warranty.

What he said ^^^^

Not interested in any legal action whatsoever. Just interested in some factory coolers at a reasonable price.

Unless you have a 8spd auto Z06, then you are out of luck. Their "added radiator" is the second trans cooler on the 8spd auto Z06 so no dice on that.
