limp mode after tune

My tune is great, can’t imagine going back, the only problem I had was during the download process (due to a weak battery). There are a lot of really reputable tunes and tuners out there, it seems the morale of the story here is to ALWAYS use battery support when downloading your tune.​

By battery charger do you mean just a battery tender/trickle charger? I was looking into one. Got any recommendations. This year has been the 1st ugly winter & the car has been parked for a few weeks now. Every now & then the car does that thing where it wakes up & I'm worried it will kill the battery. Too much snow to move the old town car behind it & don't want to just turn it on due to being full of pump 85

i use MXS 5.0 FORD made by ford performance to charge my battery. the car was on the charger when i would flash the car with the charger showing full charge. zxmustang confirms why this issue is happening, i have exellent tune support, they basically are tweeking the tunes to accomadade my cars mods. no codes and checked my work severall times, i installed the LTH. Thank everyone for your responce

Do you have forscan? Next time it throws the wrench light don't shut off the car and read codes. Forscan is one of the best for Ford's.

i will try that. when it does happen i shut off the car for several minutes and everything is back to normal.

You should always check your battery voltage before flashing. I figured that was a normal practice. Anyway... What was the code that was thrown? Wheel torque error I'd guess.

Ok, I was looking at the FP one so I'll just go with that one. It just threw me off how on the pics it only shows either 2 eye lid leads or 2 clamp leads. But after seeing a post above I understand it now.

LTH and CAI went into limp mode after aggressive launch several times after several tune up grades. has anyone experience the same situation?

I had a similar issue and it was scary (I thought It had to do with op gears ) I had the car for a few months and I am procharged. During a pull/extreme launch the car rev'd like hell and felt as if it was on Ice, it wouldn't go.. Gauges went dead, cell lights came on, no oil pressure reading it was scarry to say the least. I was able to drive the car home since I wasn't far. Car sat a few days. I was encouraged to change and examine the oil and filter and thankfully all was good. I guess it went "limp mode" I think in my case the clutch was slipping and the power delivery was just coming on (it all happened real fast) The car was purchased with the charger and whatever tune it had. Haven't had any issues since but then again haven't hit it that hard (also replaced clutch, retuned and a series of other things) funny enough, it happened during a time that I was learning a lot about the op gears upgrade, reading on it and watching YT to learn more on it.

Guys, straighten me out here If I’m wrong but I don’t think I’m far off. The title of this thread could almost be a tattoo.

Has anybody ever modified and/or tuned one of these cars and it didn’t result in some kind of problem down the road that required additional work or retuning to make it run right? It seems like virtually every time someone asks for help with CELs, codes, driveability, etc. it turns out their car has been jacked around with by some tuner who thought he could outsmart Ford engineers.

I mean let’s face it. Getting some extra ponies for not a lot of cash is really appealing, right up to FI. But is it worth creating an ongoing problem in a car that’s already a pretty strong runner and reliable?

Remember the old Popiel Showtime Oven where you could “set it and forget it”? If that applied to tuning a Coyote I’d be all over it, warranty be damned. But it seems like the complete opposite is true.

Most of the trouble I had with tuning on the Shelby was either a dead battery (my fault) of the forgot to open something like speedo adjustment for different rear gears or turning off the emissions ready stuff by accident.
