And that is why this truck is not intended to replace an of the other F-series offerings that would fit your intended use much better. Ford didn't roll out the electric truck and tell everyone "Here is the new F150, we hope you like it, because it's all your getting."
Bullseye-

As mentioned earlier in this thread, It's an impressive truck at an excellent price point.
I'm impressed with many of the features, especially the 9.6 kw on-board generator.
With that said, for people that tow anything and go to remote places to escape society, this won't be their truck of choice.

Ford will sell these as fast as they can build them, I'm sure.

I agree. They rolled out a vehicle which will contribute more to 'global warming' or pollution in general than an ICE F150 would due to the extraction procedures for the rare earth components of the battery, the future disposal costs of spent batteries, and emissions from the power plants that will fuel the magic unicorn electricity these vehicles use.

But on the upside, under-informed consumers in pursuit of wokeness will purchase plenty of them, and they and Ford management can pat themselves on the back for how they're (not) protecting the environment.

Hopefully someone in charge of producing vehicles for some major company is learning that electric motors are wonderful for supplying instant large amounts of torque, BUT need to be supplemented by an ICE., preferably with regenerative brakes.

Was the 1st gen Lightning really that impressive vs other trucks? I really don't know, as the ONLY thing I think when I see its numbers are:

"Wow a 1997 Escort Coupe handled better and ran the same 1/4 mile... while being MUCH better on gas and also only holding 2 people."

Now the 2nd Gen was a great truck. I just REALLY never understood the love for the first.

Like it or not, regardless of the reason, this is happening. If it’s not for you, that’s OK. There will be plenty others that will find this truck to be perfect for them. I, like you, hope that there will be improvements in the technology.
