Are the lug nuts universal for all model mustangs to interchange wheels? I have the 17's wheel, looking to go to 18 or 19 factory wheels, the ones i find all say no lug nuts, so im assuming mine will work & i can just paint to match the wheel is need be??? Can anyone COnfirm this

Since the topic of 150 ft lb tightening came up.... can anyone explain why so tight? Isnt that so tight that you could do damage to the lug/studs/or rims? I fear a wheel falling off at 100mph in a turn because of the extra load in addition to the initial tightening.

Seems soooo tight.

14mm studs...the same diameter as my Ram 3500 diesel truck. 130 ft lbs is plenty tight, but the studs can handle the 150 ft lb spec easily.

The new lug nuts are here !! The new lug nuts are here !!

Imagine how I'll be when the car arrives - LOL.

As promised the # 96643BDX version does completely cover the exposed "silver ring" around the opening, taper seems perfect !

Sorry to bring this but just want to confirm that 96643BDX is the right number that will fit pp GT wheels. I bought some take off wheels and want to order the lug nuts to be ready when I get tired.
Thanks

150 ft lbs is correct due to the size of the studs. They're bigger than years past.
It's been 25+ years but if I remember correctly the head bolt torque on my old 429 was also 140/150 lb ft.....:eyebulge:
For those with a spare tire kit breaking those nuts loose to change a flat could be challenging with that little wrench Ford provides.

You'll be happy, the BDX ones are just like stock.
Yep, the BDX ones cost a few $ more but fit exactly like the OE lugs (i.e. they have a wider "lip" where the nut meets the wheel & thus cover the "silver ring" that surrounds the opening).

The Gorilla Automotive 71643NBC are NOT the ones you want. The Conical Seat contact area is smaller than the original lugs, NOT good for aluminum wheels tighting down @ 150ft-lbs! I bought these based on this thread and returned them to Amazon.

Gorilla Wheel Locks 96643BDX ARE the ones you want.
Key phrase here is: Conical Seat Type = Bulge
With these you will not see the "Silver Ring" of aluminum wheel showing around the smaller 71642NBC lugs, meaning you do have the design full Conical Seat contact area !!!

I found them at:

Hi Rob,

Greetings from Australia.

Would these 96643BDX be suitable for the MRR M350 wheels? (I've just bought a set of M350's and sorting out lug nuts is beating my brains out.

Also, is a specific "installation tool" required?

Many thanks,

Jim

I just painted the lug nut recesses on my wheels, for the life of me I couldn't find black lugs, at the time, to cover that silver ring. I had my wheels off for winter so just taped them off and sprayed the recesses. 6 monhts later it's still good to go. Painted the center cap horsies, too.
