Let them replace the dash panel or just live with it?

It would bug me enough to have them fix it.

Can't imagine that panel is different from the GT. I too replaced my gage pod with the EB pod after the SC was installed. There is a video on CJ pony parts that shows how to take it off. There is a kick panel to right of the glove box that comes off first, drop the glove box down and then slowly work the clips loose on the long panel.....very nerve wracking but I would not call it an "invasive" procedure. Hopefully your tech has extra plastic clips (blue things in the pics above) as I did lose 2 of those into the bowels of the dash.

Not trying to troll your thread, but where is it? Is it just to the left of the vent?

If that's it, it's a tough call. It would bug me, but rattles bug me more. I just had a couple of rattles fixed in the dash before my car went back for the engine replacement. So if you are rattle free, I really don't know what way I'd go with it.

The above would be the way I'd normally handle it. In this case, with this car, I'd consider going all the way simply because it would bug the crap out of most of us. The question is whether the risk is worth even more damage (potentially, anyway).

Yup. When I yanked my 4" screen and swapped in an 8" I had to pull this panel. Even with all the right tools, as you pry it seems (at times) as though you are exceeding a threshold and are very close to snapping something. And this is after identifying where the clips were and prying/pulling in the right spots. I definitely wouldn't do this in colder temperatures.

Id like to see the full installation procedure!!! can you give me a link to your post?

Same here...I'm ocd as can be. I'd just get a gun metal touch up and just touch it. Or a marker for that matter. Just get in there where the white is. I bet you'd forget about it after a dozen drives...and nobody will notice

Good call, thanks! This worked far better than it had any right to:

The only way you can see it now is the indentation of the scratch itself in the paint.

Tempted to just leave it be now. I'll never notice it day to day.
Looks near invisible with that touch up. I'd leave it alone. Not worth the risk of the Ford Tech breaking or scratching something else trying to replace it. Or possibly introducing a rattle where there is none.

Well, I am on travel for work this week (Hello, Atlanta, I am in you. GTRI is the best!), so I let them replace the trim panel and reinstall the splitter while I am gone.

I won't be home until tomorrow, but when I called today, Meghan (service advisor) swears that the trim panel was installed with no issues and the splitter was installed correctly as well (I gave the tech a thumb drive with the installation video, so I can only hope that he got it right this time. No, really.)

Anyways, we'll see. On Monday I sent the Sales Manager a text stating that the car was in for warranty work, and that I had the Ford feedback survey on my desk, awaiting the end result. He texted back that they "need 100% on the survey". I replied that I "need the trim panel replaced correctly and the splitter reinstalled properly as well."

lol. sometimes... I still don't have faith that the work was done correctly.

Picked it up this afternoon.

1. The new dash trim panel is installed and looks beautiful. No scratches, dents, dings etc... No noticeable rattles and the gauges/vents work as advertised. Huge success!

2. The splitter is finally installed properly. Sadly, the installer put a big ass dent in the leading edge of the splitter when he did the reinstall. Glad I took photos of everything when I turned the car in for work. The dealership is going to order a new splitter and install it at no charge to me. I'll call that a win, but not until it's done.

Edited for spelling.

I'm assuming that he wacked the crap out of it with whatever he used to seat the splitter.
