I'm assuming hill start assist will hold it while you launch if on an incline?
Why are you wanting to 'launch' going up hill?

Why wouldn't you? I think it's a fair question, not all roads (or tracks) are completely level.
I don't know of a single drag strip in the world that has in incline/decline that would require brakes at the line, that just isn't safe

Nor is is remotely safe to have your foot to the floor with the gas pedal, your other foot to the floor with the clutch and depend on a hill assist to keep you from rolling.

If you really want that, learn to work the e-brake on launch, it can help with pre-loading the suspension anyway.

Doesn't have to be a drag strip, it could be a circuit or even a private road.

I just wondered whether Ford had factored that into their Launch Control algorithm, that's all. ;)

It's a stupid ass question. I have never heard of anyone starting any sort of a race on a hill.

I suppose I was asking from a technical point of view, rather than a practical one. I just wondered whether the car was clever enough to hold it.

There is a slow motion video on this forum some place that shows how / why launch control with stock rubber is slower then learning to launch.

In this video,You can count 9 seperate power (spinning wheels) to bogging (traction controll) cycles.

on power, off power, on power , off power is just no good for 0-60 times.

Those on off cycles kill your 60 foot times.

What I mean is that even though it is a feature for "track use only" that doesn't mean that nought percent of people are ever going to try it on a public road. As noted in other threads on here, people tend to leave LC activated even when they're not on a track.

By hill, I don't mean massive hill, just one with enough incline to make you roll back. In a normal car without hill-assist you would apply the handbrake in this situation to prevent the car from rolling back. In a car with hill-assist you have enough time to move your foot from the brake to the accelerator and you will not roll back. The manual says that it holds it for about two seconds, or it will extend the time if you're in the process of moving off.

So I was wondering about the technical implementation of LC, and whether this combines with hill assist to prevent you rolling back should you be setting off on a slight incline, because you are actually in the process of moving off. Not a stupid question because if you didn't have LC you would use the handbrake (e-brake for US) for a quick start up any type of slight hill, however I wondered whether the LC system ensured a smooth uphill start if you wanted to gun it.

Launch control doesn't work on an incline, even a fairly slight incline disables it.

Disagree, it was a reasonable question.

I do a Hillclimb event that starts on a slope. Fortunately they use a 'hockey stick' arrangement behind the front tyre that both holds you in position and starts the timing mechanism as you leave the line.
