launch control on 6 spd only?

Launch control on the Dodge A8 does have a useful function. You can set the RPM you launch at from 1500 rpm to 3500 rpm in 250 rpm steps. If you drag race at a strip you will be able to find what rpm your car can launch at without spinning the tires (depends on track prep). You can concentrate on the tree and have your launch rpm exactly where you want it. The A8 is superior to the Ford A10 in several areas and this is one of them. Another area is the A8 shifts faster. My A10 shifts like a sloppy pig. When going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it is slow and allows the RPM to increase before catching the next gear., Now this may seem impressive because this causes it to chirp the tires when doing this and some of you may like it. I don't. It was one of biggest disappointments when I received my Mustang.

I read my manual and do not seem to have launch control or any different driving modes. I have the "steering wheel" only that changes the steering feel- the choices are Comfort, Normal and Sport. My car is a base model.. Perhaps this is an option my car does not have? I have a base GT with the only option being the black accent package and 3.55 rear axle ratio.

I assume you do have the 6 speed manual. If so the Launch control comes with the 301A package.

Hmm, would it kill Ford to actually call that out in the owner's manual? My 'base' 2019 GT obviously doesn't have drive modes and with LC enabled and the pedal mashed simply blips the throttle up to the present and then pulls the gas till the RPMs drop to about 1500, then re-blips the throttle back up to the preset. Basically acts like a punk sitting at a traffic light revving his engine trying to show off.

Try to pull away from a stop is totally futile since despite the gas on the floor, there isn't any actual throttle control in play.

Ditto my 2019 EB with the 101A package which DOES have drive modes. Put it into Track+LC and all it does is the same throttle blip exercise instead of holding throttle.

Am I just stupid or did Ford neuter the so-called feature on this combo of cars? Yes both are 6MT.

Have you ever used it? Truthfully, I have it on now, but I can't for the life of me remember the steps to activate it.

So, no, it doesn't matter for street driving if it's on or off. It has to be activated with some sort of brake pedal dance.

Are you talking part throttle or wot shifts Jim? When the A10 shifts the heavy dual mass flywheel torque is what’s causing the acceleration on the shifts @ wot in drag mode or tuned. Not a bad thing assuming you have a tire to hold it.
